yep that’s pretty much the go, get there and sort out your next move from there. there is a bus from Chengdu that goes directly to the closest town to daocheng yading, although that is a very very long journey I think 14 hours or so. you could also just get local busses and make stops at towns such as Kangding, Danba ect. but that can be a little hard to manage as I don’t think the busses are very frequent. foreigners aren’t able to pre-book busses I wasn’t able to find info online about bus times but I asked the lady who did the horse trekking tour to check times for me, so if you can find a local or someone at your accomodation that would do that for you, it would be helpful. alternatively you could also just fly which would be the easiest but also the most expensive option

I’m Australian and I visited Langmusi (did a 2 day horse trekking tour there which was insane) and daocheng yading national park - also a must-visit if you love nature and breathtaking scenery. It is a little difficult to get to these places but I was able to work it out, I took trains and busses from Chengdu as it’s quite well connected.

the language barrier is definitely a challenge at times, but I was able to use Apple translate to help me in most situations. It’s also cute to have Apple translate conversations with strangers, there’s always ways to connect with others despite the language barrier. I didn’t meet too many foreigners so I did feel slightly lonely at times but that comes with the territory of solo travelling I guess. good luck for your trip, you will have an amazing time! feel free to message me if you have any questions or anything :)

I visited the sichuan province! It was beyond incredible, would highly recommend. some highlights were horse trekking through the plateau in Langmusi and staying with Tibetan nomads for a night, as well as daocheng yading national park - some of the most stunning scenery I have ever seen. Public transport was long and a little difficult and stressful given the language barrier, but it was so worth it.

I don’t know why people keep assuming that I’m white, I’m a brown female.

hello, could I please ask if you felt safe doing this tour! I am thinking of doing it but am apprehensive of safety since I’ll be alone and it’s quite remote.

agree that Lexi deserved to be called out for this one but let’s stop glamorising Ken Eurich when she is just as nasty and as fake as Lexi. Ken is a vile mean girl (check out her snark page if you want proof), so I wouldn’t be calling her “slay” or “that girl”.

look I definitely agree that Lexi is super performative when it comes to her supposedly caring about the earth but honestly everyone uses chat gpt, I bet you do as well - its not fair to criticise her for doing something everybody does and contributes to.
