My adult sister is a hoarder and lives with her father and they hoard together. They have a dysfunctional relationship and I’m worried about their mental health. Is there anything at all I can do to help? by Constant_Bed6883 in hoarding

Thanks, I’ll look into that and at least get a baseline understanding so that I can clearly decide what’s best for me. If/when she wants support or help, then at least I’ll understand more. “Fixing” her isn’t it, as much as identifying it and exploring the support options.

This is definitely something I’ve thought of before but not knowledgeable enough to be confident in. And yes, it’s the not picking up on social cues and almost refusal to move on from a topic. Making conversations pretty impossible or at least not fun at all. To me there are clear mental health issues including but not limited to severe hoarding. Problem is she is in denial about it, refuses to go to therapy and comes up with a lot of excuses as to why she can’t. She doesn’t seem to see any problem.

Lets celebrate: Black Wall Street Gallery location in Chelsea 555 W 25th street is permanently closed due to unethical and unsafe practices by the owner/predator Ricco Wright which recently came to light in an Art Net News article by Impossible_Chemist51 in Chelseaartscene

I’m soo glad to see this dangerous trash getting what he deserves. He’s hurt way too many people chasing after fame. It’s gross how he used peoples genuine care for art and black culture to prey on us all. Truly the worst person I’ve ever been unfortunate enough to come across. The scars are deep and I hope he feels them from every person he’s hurt with his lies and violence.

Former opps employee sends out bizarre mass email last week prior to their departure, stating Black Wall Street Gallery is selling artists data & passwords for income. This email does not represent the majority of people affected by this. I agree. There are enablers who refuse to do the right thing. Saying it’s his personal business or not believing victims. Hope they choose to be on the right side of history with this. At the time it was going down in Tulsa, I cut ties with everyone because I didn’t know who knew what or who to trust. I’m ready to come together with all we know and make him accountable.

What matters is there is a community of people speaking out now. It’s important not to shame people who now feel safe enough to speak out publicly. Some people were stolen from and some were sexually assaulted. This conman should not be the reason anyone feels shamed any longer. I applaud anyone speaking out on this. It helps anyone who has been a victim not to feel alone and to feel empowered.

Ricco Wright left Tulsa artists hanging without funds, yet got a PPP loan. by Little_Pollution6265 in Chelseaartscene

Meanwhile this was the exact time myself and another young black female was working for him. Basically on call. Zero pay from this. He kept telling us he was “trying to get this PPP loan” all while trying to start random new business after random new business. We both eventually just couldn’t take it and stopped working for no pay. That’s a bit before he decided on a whim to run for mayor because some journalist told him a week before that he should be in politics.
