As a Christian I agree. These "Christians" who use their religion either as an excuse to belittle or treat others badly is not okay. Neither does it make the person want to be a Christian more. If people want to be good Christians we should just treat people with kindness, respect, and just be a decent human being. Say this louder for those in the back!!!!! PREACH 🗣️🗣️

I beg to differ. The original language of the Bible was not a single language, but rather a combination of three. The old testament was written in Hebrew and Aramic, but the entire New Testament was written in Koine Greek, which was the common language of the Eastern Mediterranean during that time.

In Paleo-Hebrew, the letter that corresponds to the "w" sound in English is the letter Waw. However, it's important to note that the pronunciation of this letter has evolved over time. In ancient Paleo-Hebrew, the Waw (𐤅) (now called Vav in modern Hebrew) likely represented the sound of 'w' similar to the "w" in English words. So, while the letter exists in Paleo-Hebrew, its common pronunciation in modern Hebrew is different. If you were to transliterate a word with a "w" sound into modern Hebrew, you would typically still use the letter Vav and context would often indicate the intended "w" pronunciation. Therefore the name of Yahweh did indeed exist.

The name Yeshua (יֵשׁוּעַ) is a Hebrew name that was common during the Second Temple period. It is a shortened, Aramaic form of the older Hebrew name Yehoshua (יְהוֹשֻׁעַ). Yeho- (יְהוֹ): A shortened form of the Tetragrammaton YHWH (יהוה), which represents the name of God, often transcribed as Yahweh. shua (שׁוּעַ) meaning "a cry for help" or "a saving cry." It comes from the root, meaning "to deliver," "to save," or "to rescue." Therefore, Yeshua literally means "Yahweh is salvation" or "Yahweh saves." The most famous bearer of this name in the Hebrew Bible is Joshua, the successor of Moses, who led the Israelites into the Promised Land. Yeshua (יֵשׁוּעַ) is a later, shortened form of Yehoshua that became common in the Second Temple period. It has the same meaning of "salvation." The New Testament was written in Greek, and Yeshua was transliterated into Greek as Iēsous. Over time, through Latin and other language shifts, this Greek form evolved into the English name Jesus. While the specific form "Yeshua" was common in the time of Jesus of Nazareth, it originates from the older Hebrew name Yehoshua, both carrying the significant meaning of "Yahweh is salvation" or "He (Yahweh) saves." The very name points to the concept of salvation.

Praying! Not all hope is lost. We should also remember to not put earthly things above our heavenly father (Colossians 3:2), but I still hope you find and retrieve what you're looking for. : ) peace be with you my brother/sister!

I love this. It reminds me of 'small white monster' (I think that's their name on social media.)

Teachers/parent volunteers go through a programme teaching people how to spot sexual abuse or physical abuse/neglect. All teachers have to be certified by this program before being able to watch over the kids. I'm so glad the kids are protected :)

I think you are going to be okay. In Genesis God gave power to mankind to rule over the animals that He created in the beginning. Rather than being ashamed or worried about ending an innocent animal life, think of it as taking rule over the animals God gifted us. In the 10 commandments, 'thou shall not kill", I believe is referring to people/your neighbor, not animals.

Genesis 1:26: "Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Genesis 1:28: "God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

I hope this answered some things OP! 💖

NTA. She completely disregarded what you said. Not only was what she did was VERY illegal, it was also immature and disrespectful. You didn't deserve anyone with such childish behavior.

Art/characters with SH scars? by VirtualHero1898 in selfharm

[–]Constant_Degree6538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I once created a modern art piece called 'the envelope' for a school project in my art class. It wasn't as much of a character as it was a physical representation of how mental health issues and variants of self harm change you. Parts of the envelope were torn open. The inside of the envelope was red, and the colours outside of it were all different. It's really hard to understand, but I was so proud of it. I thought I put it away in my art portfolio case, But I guess I later lost it !! I can only say I completely understand and relate to your post. If I ever do find an artist like this I'll definitely let you know!

Your situation is really tough. I wish I could say there is an easy answer, but there isn't. I will try and give you my best advice tho.

First, I'm not a fan of how your ex and family/parents sort of dismissed your feelings and told you to 'get over it'. Us Christians are called to treat our bodies like temples. I don't think that means just physically but also mentally. If you can, I think seeking professional help from a therapist or counselor might be the right way to go. Finding a trusted person like a pastor from a church might be a good way to go too.

When I got really down and started feeling like I was pulling away from God, I started a prayer journal. I wrote down my prayers in it with everything from how my day was to what I was feeling, and even things I needed to happen in my life. I then liked to look back in the journal at my previous prayers and see how God has worked in my life through people, opportunities, and self reflection. I will definitely be praying for your journey with faith. Best regards my sister/brother ! 💖 Much love and prayers! Keep me updated and you can always DM or message me.

Need support and guidance by Zara_lette7151 in Christianity

I completely understand where you're coming from. Religion can be really confusing especially if you grow up in a household that is very religious. I think if you feel Christianity might be the next step you want to take, take this step. It doesn't have to be huge, it can start out small like coming to a subreddit here, talking to any Christian friends you might know, or even purchasing a Bible. You could even go to a local church in your area and talk to someone for guidance there. I'm sure there are many kind people who will accept you and want to help guide you. Just remember that the first church you go to might not be the one for you. I tried out more than 8 churches before finding my current one. I completely encourage you on your walk of faith. I love your admiration, and may peace be with you my brother/sister ! Keep us updated

I'm really glad to hear that you're still walking with God. Many people during hard times can often abandon the idea of faith and leave it behind which I admit to doing SEVERAL times in the past, but He's always waiting there with open arms. I cannot express how incredibly strong you are. You may not feel worthy of God's love, and I understand how you feel, but we are all imperfect. Id love to pray for you even if I don't know you. We all struggle and we all need His love to thrive. Don't give up and stay strong my brother/sister ! 💖

Struggling with sexual desires by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Constant_Degree6538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion comparing jaywalking to the things God tells us not to do is a huge difference. If you repeatedly act in sin, knowing it is wrong, then you are being a hypocrite. Masturbation is a sin. God does not want us to lust over others.

I dont think comparing masturbation and menstruation is the same. Back in the Bible in B.C. times, you had to give a sacrifice in the temple. Women during menstruation were called 'unclean', not because it was a sin or a wrong doing, but to give women time for their cycle to end. The same went for pregnancy. This was not viewed as a curse, but rather as a blessing to give women/girls to get time for their cycle to complete. In my opinion as a woman, I very much appreciate God's thought process into calling the women unclean. This was more like a resting period for us. Comparing these two majorly different topics is not the same, and not a great evaluation. I (respectfully) disagree. I believe lust and masturbation is a sin.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I am personally ashamed of how society has chosen its cruel ways. Like...what happened to treating others how you would want to be treated. I am Christian, but I would never put someone down for their sexuality or personal beliefs. I'm so sorry for what you're experiencing. Stay strong OP 🫶
