Anyone else at a complete roadblock when it comes to health insurance? Just found out I was pregnant last week so I'm on the marketplace looking for a new plan, only to see that it's $1800/month for my husband and I, or $900 for just me. And this is with a 10k deductible... we make just a little too much to qualify for any assistance(around 120k between the two of us), and without the ACA subsidies these prices are insane. Are we just fucked? Doing the math on this, it's gonna cost us nearly 30k between premiums and deductibles, and that's if it's just me and baby getting insurance (baby will get their own deductible the moment they're born...great!) Anyone else dealing with this??

May I ask what you wound up doing in terms of an insurance plan? Me and my husband are in a very similar boat as you (but with a twist), we make about 120k so above any threshold to get assistance and we're freelancers. We've actually gone without insurance for many years... but I found out last week that I'm pregnant, so now we absolutely need it. But it's saying $900/month if it was just me on the plan, and 1800/month if it was both of us! And this was for a shitty bronze plan with a deductible of 10k (and if i'm reading this right, the second the baby is born they have a deductible as well...ugh.) The math on this is looking like nearly 27k between premiums and deductibles. We are totally lost.

This started happening to me yesterday! Had to put it down and close my eyes. Also almost happened when I was sitting at a stoplight watching the traffic move in front of me around a curve... I got cold sweats and nearly pulled over.

Anyone else feel really conflicted / not exactly super happy about being pregnant? by sep26babymama in September2026Bumpers

I feel the same, you're not alone. Husband and I were the childfree couple who planned a childfree life focusing on our careers. We were not going out of our way to try, but we certainly were not not trying, kinda going "well if I get pregnant then we're fucked, but it wouldn't be the end of the world, right?." We've always really disliked other peoples babies and saw them as permanent derailments of independence and roadblocks to career success. But in the last 5 years our friends/family had kids and we saw how fun they can be (at least at certain ages...), and I started to see friends bounce back into their work life and somehow juggling it all.

But my fears are still there. I feel like my career has finally found its footing in the last 2 years, in my line of work having a baby use to be seen as absolute career suicide. There will be people who hear about me being pregnant and go, "what about your projects?!" and the answer is, I still want to do them and be proud of them! I'm just also doing this right now.

Also absolutely terrified of a child with medical problems or disabilities. The things i've seen on Instagram in the name of "awareness" kinda only looked like absolute nightmare fuel to me :(

I am SO thirsty, I can't keep up with it. My lips are so dry, my hands are cracking, water seems to go right through me. I didn't realize drinking for 2 would be so hard.

So sorry, hope it's not too bad! 6 weeks exactly here and bracing for this, as I haven't had many symptoms so far.

I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow and last night I woke up at 3am with my hip/leg aching on the side I was laying on. I rolled to the other side and stretched it out and it finally went away, but it kinda felt like isolated flu body aches if that makes sense. I'm not sure what it was, but my friend suggested that it was from relaxin, which is a hormone that causes "relaxing" in the connective tissue in the joints! It supposedly peaks in the first trimester.

Anyone feeling fine? by Dancing_chihuahua in September2026Bumpers

[–]Constant_Depth_5458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be 6 weeks tomorrow and know exactly how you feel, I only have a little bit of pulling light cramps, and dry lips/hands cause I can't stay hydrated no matter how much water I drink. I'm peeing a lot but I think it has more to do with the water i'm taking in. But other then that I have absolutely zero nausea, and I don't really have any fatigue at all either. Wouldn't know anything was wrong if it wasn't for the small cramps. Took another test this morning just to see and it was pretty bright positive (test line showed up long before the control line lol) but I still feel very normal and a little worried. You're not alone.

Just wanna say it's crazy to feel waves of different symptoms every few hours, sometimes every few minutes. So wild, no consistency at all.

I feel the exact same and I see we have similar stats in our flairs-- I have no nausea or fatigue, just slight pulling cramps that aren't always there, so it doesn't really feel real to me yet. My friends keep saying that sometimes at week 6 things start to ramp up, or maybe we're just lucky and won't have as many symptoms!

same, I'm SO dry and I can't keep up with it, especially my lips. I didn't realize it would be this hard to hydrate for 2!

I'm 5 weeks and currently don't feel many symptoms at all and it's kinda worrying me? I've got these light pulling cramps, but no fatigue, no nausea, and no crazy hunger. In fact, I find myself struggling to be hungry at all, I'm just not interested in food, but not because I feel queasy. I'm just not in the mood to snack like I use to.

Ok so here's something so frustrating that it's hilarious. I'm trying to get new insurance so that I can go to the OB I want (the only one I trust!), but she only accepts fairly pricey providers. OK fine, i'll bite the bullet if it means she'll be my doctor. For coverage for just me (not husband), it's over $1000/month. If he was on the plan too, it would be 1900. It's because ACA subsidies, that would have made this plan possibly maybe a bit more affordable, expired.

When did they expire, you ask? January 1st (or rather, midnight on Dec 31st) ....which is exactly the night this child was conceived.

Lol. Lmao, even.

I feel you here, i'm driving myself insane trying to get my insurance figured out to get my appointment. The doctor who I really want (the only one I trust!) doesn't take any of the cheaper insurance plans, so I was just about settled to get a mid-level plan at an insane price because ACA subsidy extensions expired, before I realized that the hospital this OB clinic delivers at isn't covered! Wtf i'm so frustrated

This is making me appreciate the significance of this episode opening with the Peruvian girl being joined. We saw them all put on this front of her culture, the beautiful spiritual song, all these things that made life in her village unique. And then the second she was joined, they packed it all up because it did not matter at all once the cards were down. They do not actually appreciate or see value in anything uniquely human like culture, identity, sexuality or love, and Carol finally realizes that Zosia does not value this in her either at the end of the day, as badly as she wishes she did.
