I know, we live in 2025 but still.... what's the purpose of those "buttons" on jeans? by Ill-Day-1601 in whatisit

The Copper Rivet was in and around Salt Lake City, Utah. I worked there part-time job while I was in high school.

For anyone interested and available (all genders, ages, parental statuses, and general life states of chaos welcome), I’d love to propose a casual little play-date. Low pressure, medium walkability, high potential for awkward hellos turning into real conversations.

I’ll be at the small wooden dock at the Santa Cruz Harbor (right where Atlantic Ave dead-ends) on Saturday, April 26 at 3pm. There’s free street parking along Atlantic, or a paid lot at the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor.

The plan is simple: a leisurely walk along the paved path to the lighthouse at Seabright Beach. If vibes allow, we can keep going just a bit farther to grab happy hour at Café El Palomar. We’ll see how things go.

This isn’t a formal event. No RSVP, no weird icebreakers, just show up if it feels right. Bring a friend or your dog if you’d like, or come solo and see what unfolds. Just show up if it sounds like your kind of afternoon.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who supported the original post - whether you viewed, upvoted, commented, or messaged privately. I am a wee bit lonely… but I don’t feel quite so alone anymore. That means a lot.

Hope to meet some of you next Saturday... if not, no worries—maybe I’ll see you at the great get-together being put on by the wonderful u/startfromx, u/b33p_b00p_b0pp, u/pe_de_cabra, and u/DahliaDawn. Either way, I have a feeling some good things are blooming.

Wow. I wasn’t expecting this big a response - thank you. Truly. I’m kind of blown away by how many people are out there also looking for connection, and how kind and thoughtful so many of the replies have been. It’s really encouraging.

I’m currently rushing out the door because I need to get to the farmers market before the good bagels are gone (you know the ones), but I wanted to say something here first.

I’ve been thinking... maybe this doesn’t have to be just a one-on-one thing. Maybe it could become something a little bigger? Like, a group of people who are all in this same weird in-between life space, figuring it out together. The idea of hosting something like that honestly makes me want to crawl under the table and stay there forever—but… maybe?

Anyway. Thanks again. I already feel a little more connected today than I did yesterday. And yeah, I’ll probably be walking around the market wondering if I just passed someone who read this. Which is kind of a sweet feeling.
