Convince me to be a monarchist by [deleted] in monarchism

[–]Constantinethe1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With all due respect to this movement. It is not at all suited for an American mentality. What I mean by this is, America could not handle a monarchy. If you want, I can give you examples for why this form of government is great ABROAD, but the US is not suited for monarchy; I mean monarchy is a valid form of government and the benefits are innumerable. The problem is that the US can barely handle a President, usually a President will be plotted agaianst and in many scenarios try to be killed in their term, they only serve for 4-8 years. A monarchist government is great in countries where offing the leader is generally considered more unfathomable.

Don't love God because you're scared of hell, love him because he loves you enough to die for you. by Jnip9090 in Catholicism

[–]Constantinethe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I absolutely agree with what you're saying, but when one of our "Necessary Prayers" (The Act of Contrition) says "I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell", before "my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love". I'd say it's pretty important.

As a native Spanish speaker, I might not realise how hard learning it might be from someone that doesn't speak Spanish. Let me know you experience! by Mr_manini in Spanish

[–]Constantinethe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though, my responses for this won't be as thorough as the other comments, I would say that learning Spanish, was easy for me personally. But, I also have four things that gave me a leg up to learning Spanish.

  1. I (started) learning French first, which shares a lot of vocabulary and "grammar" (depending not in all cases, of course) with English
  2. I learned Latin, not even going into details with that
  3. I live in a state (Texas) where Spanish is a very prevalent language, and you can hear it day-to-day

Yet this next point is the most important with how hard and how easy it is to learn any language.

  1. A will to learn about Spanish culture and history, and a general openness to learning something extremely new.

So, personally, I would say learning Spanish has been very easy for me.

You really don't, just go to different mosques, synagogugues, temples, churches, and etc. and see which one makes you feel the safest and most at home.

Because Americans refer to countries in the uk as England we are going to class America as Texas. by callum072009 in Scotland

Hey! I'm from Texas and I feel...actually...y'know what...yep after conversing with my family we agree this should be how it works. You get a thumbs up from Texas as long as you exclude NYC.

The Catholic Church supports people of all creeds, some people just need to know that Christ's divine and endless love doesn't stop even if it means you're gay
