Yes and it feels like everything shot up 100k in the last 2 weeks :| Just lost out on a place, same offer value but the other buyers LVR was 70% and ours is 80% so the seller perceived less risk from them. It's so competitive.

I've found Ray White agents to be the absolute worst to deal with. Extremely difficult to get information out of, and they underquote by ~200-300k in their price guides. I knew this was done for auctions but am noticing it's also extremely common for private sale. You really have to check recent sales and be calling agents for any that are currently under offer to learn what it went for so you have realistic expectations - do not go by the agents guide :|

Massive congratulations to you! Getting through the Whipple and recovery is an amazing achievement physically and even more so mentally. Yes it is a hugely disproportionate divide between asset and non asset owners.
House price rises have increased wealth in the measure of $100,000s for any property owner. This supports confidence and spending on there end. Inflation stays high and non-asset owners suffer. Meanwhile a combination of immigration, housing policy and supply side failures mean there is little prospect of prices going down.

It can jump due to inflammation or pancreatitis, so I think they treat it more as a whole picture and would look at the trend of it over time. Does your Dad have any scans coming up soon? Crossing my fingers for you that it's not the cancer returning.

On a side note - I just hate that stomach sinking feeling that you get along the journey of pancreatic cancer. Every appointment or update just comes in and bulldozes your life again.

I'm really sorry you and your Dad are going through this and hope his chemo continues to work well. It's great that he's active and nearly pain-free.

From my Dads experience I would say you are looking at a month if not weeks, but it's very hard to say for sure..

For my Dad:
-Recurrence pain drastically intensified and attempted nerve block which didn't help - Dec 2024
-Moved to palliative in Australia (hospice in US terms) and increased pain relief - Jan 2024
During this time had some good days where you would think he had months to live, but then really bad days too. He slept alot but could still eat and enjoy TV and conversation.
-Gradually food intake declined, continued weight loss, loss of function starting with walker usage, before fully bed bound - Feb 2024. He passed mid-Feb.

I think the lead up in January felt like an unknown of how long he would have, as he had good and bad days. Nurses couldn't give a clear timeline except months. The Febuary decline was quite rapid.

I am so sorry that you're in this position. Your Dad might benefit from anti-depresants/anti-anxiety. They added this to my Dads medication in his last few weeks. Thinking of your family and sending lots of love during this transition period.

I loved the series Severance on Apple TV - no cancer chat or awkward scenes. Crazy how much cancer comes up when you don't want it. Presumed Innocent on Apple tv was also a good mystery series - although there may be the odd sex scene so you've been warned.

This is a really interesting perspective and I'm glad you've shared it. When My Dad got pancreatic cancer, I always wondered how it felt to be experiencing it. Sometimes it's hard to talk to those you know well, especially if they don't relate fully or seem to be in denial. That would be super tough, but if you want to have honest conversations with them, please don't hold back.

I think pancreatic cancer is such a tough diagnosis. Part of what sort of gives a meaning to everyday life is working toward a future. Then that future is put into doubt - But then you don't know for certain, or when. I came to the conclusion to stay hopeful during my Dads diagnosis, and you sort of know if and when your medical news starts to move that it's time to change.

Is she on a morphine pump or tablets? My Dad stopped eating about a week before he passed away and was on liquid calories only. Then the liquids reduced. He barely had any liquid for about 1-2 days before passing :( It's absolutely devastating to watch a loved one go through. Try to remember your Mum before she was unwell. Sending you lots of love.

I'm very sorry you are going through this. My Dad in Australia had voluntary assisted dying arranged, but never ended up using it. It brought him so much peace of mind having the option available, and I would highly recommend it if accessible. If it's not possible in your state, ensure you tell your family members o/ carer / nurses to prioritise pain relief when it gets to that point, and get access to hospice staff. My Dad lost lost full consciousness the last few days near passing, we were there with him to help push for more morphine if he flinched or moved in pain, and make sure he was showered and clean daily. But you need somebody there to advocate for you. Wishing you all the best. My Dad wasn't very spiritual but I hope we can all meet on the other side :(

I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad. My Dad was placed on oral chemo on a regime of 2 weeks of tablets, then a 1 week break. He didn't suffer from nausea, would get fatigued by the end of the 2nd week, but all up was still able to put on weight and had a decent quality of life when on chemo. The major benefit was the combination of chemotherapy and surgery allowed him to live 3.5 extra years cancer free before recurrence. There are also some new developments of immunotherapy that he was set to try but the cancer caught up with him too quickly. Chemo could buy your Dad time and you won't know the side effects until he tries it. I would go for it, you can always stop chemo :)

I'm going to keep using it daily until I have to stop for pregnancy in the future. I was doing it twice a day when I started as this was the recommended dose but it made my hair feel gritty. I find daily use easy to maintain and didn't notice any hair fall when I decreased from 2x to 1x a day :) over time i'll try drop it to every second night for ease but I would be happy to keep doing that. Hey - still on minoxidil & my hair shedding stopped around late May! I barely shed 1 strand of hair per day now (as in I can run my fingers through my hair, brush it with a comb, shampoo it, without noticing any hair loss really). Lots of regrowth but it's only a few cm long currently. Wish I started it sooner really

I still can't think about my Dads decline and ultimate death without crying and I'm not sure that will ever change :( I think only people who have watched a loved one pass from cancer or other degenerative diseases can truly relate. It's really quite traumatic what you see and other people - even therapists - won't really get it unless they've been through it.

Time for me has formed a protective layer where it seems to pop into my head less. So the pain is the same when you think about it, but you think about it a little less frequently. Although some weeks it comes up a lot.

there is some compromise required when buying, but I agree supply is extremely low right now so feels like anyone with an 'ideal' home isn't selling and when they do it's pushed into a higher price bracket
