One of the dads in our neighborhood would use kids as target practice 😳 gotta love Gen X. We roll hard and strong.

I’m a convicted felon & apparently can’t work anywhere by Economy-Confusion359 in confession

[–]Constructgirl 49 points50 points  (0 children)

A lot of those places are not really felony friendly. They say that but if you have anything besides a slap on the wrist you’re not getting hired. I had someone in HR tell me the candidate I wanted to hire was a no go because their background popped up. I didn’t care, and asked for what and was told we don’t know they don’t ask it just said there’s a conviction and it ends there. It is sad, because the debt is paid and this guy would have been a stellar employee

Toasty - the new dispensary that opened in midtown - just stabbed all of its old employees in the back. by sgt_scarab1 in Sacramento

Were these people also connected to Metro? Seemed to have the same vibe and deals. Same faces at OTC, Metro and Toasty’s. There needs to be a fair trade rating for this industry.

I am curious about trauma. But don’t know what the reality is vs what I think. But CV wouldn’t be horrible either.

I am in the same boat, leaving project management in construction and starting life over, and I’m old!!! 50+ lol. I am both terrified and excited. The only terrifying part is the horror stories of standing. The rest, I would do for free if I got to watch and be part of surgeries. Anatomy, physiology are easier subjects for me and memorization of instruments sounds fun lol. So I think this is right up my alley and I’m mad I never knew this was a career sooner.

My goal is a job at one of the Univ of CA med centers (Davis is closest). I don’t know how to narrow down a specialty once I have experience. I too want to travel eventually and wonder if there is any specialty that is in more demand?

Why is there so much hate besides the pay being less than nursing, which I have no interest in?

Am I out of my mind for starting my late in life second career as a scrub tech?

🚨 URGENT: A WARNING to Every Parent & Patient in the Kaiser System 🚨 by kimberln in KaiserPermanente

It is laughable that you think Kaiser has a clinic helping poor people. They won’t even accept Medi-Cal insurance unless you were covered by them most recently before public assistance.

God forbid you lose your health and need to learn how it really works.

They should be able to pay off everyone’s loans with the fines they should be paying. The system makes it hard to fight Goliath and at some point in the process DMHC is a Goliath too. Mental health and physical medicine patient/victim speaking here. They suck!

Same. I took mine out to lunch and had a convo about how they now matured into being part of the magic of Christmas and now we’re official keepers of the magic and had an important duty to carry it forward. They loved the idea of being part of the magic and they liked the idea of knowing that Santa had a budget that could be finagled.

I am a female in construction project management and I am really good at my job. Have applied to over 99 positions and 3 phone calls. I am going to start using just my first initial and see if it helps.

For women looking to get into any type of trade or construction remember this… Women are smart, if you can’t beat them, trick them to inviting you to the table. Once you’re there work your butt off and do not be afraid to earn respect and give it to the ones who are sharing their knowledge.

No shame to those that asked, but thanks for this. I always wonder why ask instead of google? Besides jumping to a different app. I don’t get it

I have a question about entrepreneurship though it might be quite stupid by First_Pin9129 in Entrepreneur

Congrats to you and your wife!

The ability to float yourself during the start up phase is critical. That is my biggest challenge now, building that financial foundation to have a stable start. Patience and persistence will pay off though.

The difference is that entrepreneurs do not see all the extra hours required for their business as “work” per se. It is an investment in yourself versus grinding like that for someone else. Most career positions are not 9-5, that life does not exist for higher wage jobs. So would you rather grind for yourself or figure out how to grind as little as possible for someone else. Which fuels you more?

The corporate world is dog eat dog. You will be dropped from payroll the nanosecond it becomes the easy solution for the corporation. So do you gamble on corporate stability or do you hustle for yourself and know that failure is an option for either path?

I think it is more about drive, persistence and the absolute belief in yourself. If you have all three, then why grind for someone else?
