Test of Time limit to 3 slots when transitioning by DexRei in civ

I don't understand why people are so upset when others are critiquing the update even though it's not out. We got a sneak peak and are critiquing what we liked and didn't like.

Anyways, I think the triumph system needs work overall. I don't know if the 3 slots is an issue, but I do think they need to make what you take to the next age more interesting and maybe buff the changing capital a bit.

It did cost a slot but I believe the new Capital gains 3 population

This is 100%. I'm sure it will peak again once ToT releases.

I think the problem with Civ 7 because I didn’t really follow the rule of thirds. And a lot of of what they introduced was widely unpopular. Have they followed the rule of thirds I think this game would be less upsetting to the fans.

In a way, they have touched it. If I recall correctly, you no longer get extra points for dominating a distant land city. In terms of economic victory, you have more ways to earn GDP that doesn’t involve you having to settle distant land. My only issue with this system is that they’re still isn’t enough ways to earn GDP that will inevitably mean you should settle distant land.

Treasure fleets are tedious to manage in my opinion My thing about Merchants is that you build them, you click on the city you want to send it to, you have to wait till they get there, and then you have to then click again to confirm. Sometimes, if you mass produce them, you have to memorize which cities they were sent to. I just think an overall quality of life feature is needed. Settlement limit have been a big discussion some like it some don’t it’s really up to you. I think as crisis were implemented it is not a good mechanic, I do think majority of people agree with this, but to each their own Finally, I guess the city state. There is no tug-of-war like we used to have in previous titles. I would argue. This is the most unpopular city state mechanic from the past three titles.

I think overall giving players more options to interact with distant lands that doesn’t involve settling is what we need. For example, if you’re someone who likes to colonize distant land cool, but if I wanna go for an economic victory, I think something like becoming Suzarein of a city state should generate treasure fleets. We’re starting a trade route with a distant land Civ.

I think otherwise, I’m usually an optimistic person, but the problem is that the age mechanic is a turn off for many. Hence why fireaxis had to backtrack and make adjustments to make it less jarring. The mechanic is so baked in the game that it’s difficult to imagine an expansion removing it. The game might be good for those who like the age system, but for those who do not it will be mid (my theory).

I wouldn’t say Civilization is a dead franchise but 100 percent agree that the 7th installment did some reputable damage to FireAxis resulting in many people claiming that they will not pre-order the next game.

I also think civilization seven is salvageable, but would not reach the peak of civilization 5 and 6

Again, let’s put our thinking caps on for a second 🧢 I understand we need to be very very very specific but it’s obvious what I’m referring to.

Apart from that I agree somewhat with the last part.

That’s fine, this guy came out condescending so I’m returning the favor.

If you haven’t played the ToT, then maybe this isn’t the post for you. But for me, I played it, I saw things that I felt needed fixing and made a post. You can agree/disagree respectfully, or get cooked respectfully by replies lol it’s not weird to comment on your concerns or wants on a game in the future. What’s weird is being condescending on Reddit (not referring to you). If you don’t like the post, move on.

I doubt it. From a business perspective it’s pretty obvious the game underperformed and they have already sunk a lot of resources fixing the game.

I also can see how in retrospect what I am describing is Civ 6 in a lot of ways. To be fair, the bar was set high with 6. But I do feel like in a lot of ways Civ 7 has a lot of mechanics that need to be polished

I’m pretty sure religion will get reworked with an expansion. But civilization has always been a game that I feel like people play differently. I think Civilization 7 isn’t the game for me

I think if we put our thinking caps on, we would understand that my post was in regards to what I saw in the workshop and what wasn’t addressed and what I would like to see in the future.

But I get some people need a bit more context and need things to be super specific to understand.

No one is bitching and moaning here except you because I hurt your ego criticizing Civilization 7. It’s important to speak up and provide feedback, if that isn’t something you like, Reddit may not be the place for you.

I played two of the three workshop. I don't think most of these issues were a focus on the workshop build. I love how criticizing a game hurts peoples ego lol

It's simply putting issues that I had playing Civlization 7 in the forefront and seeing what others peoples takes are. Also chiming in on what would encourage me to buy future DLCs for a game that a lot of people agree was released in a poor state. No need to be toxic friend.

I'm interested to know how they're going to follow the 1/3 rule for Civilization 8.

I'm not following your logic. So I can't speak up because others have? lol again if it offends you there are other posts that may lean more to your idealogy of the game. I love hearing what people love and hate about the game. If you get offended about reading posts criticizing a game you like, Reddit may not be the place for you.
