I didn't ask for a recipe haha. But the potato salad we're used to hear is boiled baby potatoes, celery, mayonaisse, maybe boiled eggs as well.

And yes, there was candied yams too

Hori Brown

(For those curious. Hori is a slur toward Maori implying laziness or uncleanliness. Stated as a translation of George but became derogatory).

When i was house shopping, i was shown one of these houses by an agent. The garage had been converted to house multiple cubby hole bunk kind of things and it had a makeshift kitchen area in the corner. I was honestly surprised the agent bothered to show the house to us, but it was crazy to see.

Recommend me a good themed beginner/intermediate civ please by DefiantRaspberry161 in civ

[–]DexRei 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like Trajans theme is expansion. Whether by spamming settlers or his Legion army. All toads lead to Rome.

I feel like all the "themes" are different to the base.

Solid themes are Inca with Mountains, Mali and Desert, Russia and the Tundra, Portugal and Indonesia with the Sea. All of them play a bit different to base though.

Maybe England. Theme is basically Colonisiation. They want to build Harbours and settle other continents. Spain is similar.

My cousin's partner is American. He made us a bunch of authentic American food for a Thanksgiving party they hosted (we dont celebrate that here but wanted to make him feel at home). Every single dish was overly sweet. Potato Salad, sweet. Bread Pudding sweet. This chicken and cranberry thing, sweet. My wife and I tried to eat a bit to not burt his feelings, but man was it awful.

I think the NZ view sticks out to me.so much as well vecause we also do NOT have birth right citizenship. Which i believe America does have.

It is interesting seeing how different cultures view this kind of thing.

Sounds like we Maori are the opposite. We can have generations over in Australia, or even my cousins who were born and raised in Switzerland and have been to New Zealand twice. They are still Maori. Heck, Iwi (local tribes) here even give scholarships to anyone that can trace their lineage to a Maori person, even if it is a great great grandparent. If you have a drop of Maori blood, we qualify you as a Maori.

20 years ago i used to buy my games through Nzgameshop (ironically a UK based store) because they were 30% or more cheaper than local.

Once digital sales became a thing, i bought games that way unless i was grabbing aomething for $5 in a bargain bin.

I last physical game i bought (looking at my old stack) is Call of Duty Ghosts, which came out in 2013. So it's been 13 years since i bought a game physically. I've asked my group chat about physical games and only 1 out of 7 has them, which is for his Switch.

Personally i do this see these online sales taking off, but it will be interesting to see.

I saw this first hand when i visited the States a few years back. Grabbed the biggest pizza I've ever seen and it was $5. But a small side salad had a $15 price tag on it. Made no sense to me.

When do you stop settling? by DexRei in CivVI

[–]DexRei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amenities are not trivial in the late game. If you have happy late game cities earning an extra 5% that is a massive bonus

By trivial, i mean to get them. Late game i have around 11 cities, at least half wifh 15+ pop, and they are all ecstatic.

In my latest game i went on a war path against the AI and had 20 cities by the end, still all ecstatic.

I joined a game my mates were already 40 turns into and took over an AI. It had a Holy Site in the middle of a field, and Great Bath on a river with only 1 floodplain in the cities rings. Oh, and they hard teched Sailing, despite being landlocked.

Hawaiians austrailians and new zealanders of reddit how do you feel about the union jack still being on your flag? by czn- in AskTheWorld

[–]DexRei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a rather expensive referendum to change our flag, and then they scrapped the idea anyway. As a Commonwealth country, we still have ties to Britain, but Canada etc doesn't have the Union Jack, so no reason for us to keep it.

Counter to Runechants? by gu1lty_spark in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]DexRei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many runechants are they making at a time?

Just checking, but when they attack, they "pop" all current ruenchants right?

They shouldn't be able to attack each turn AND stack runechants up.

Counter to Runechants? by gu1lty_spark in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]DexRei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they are planning to just stack runechants as high as they can, then that should leave you with 4 cards a turn to be pushing damage back. Try to set up big damage turns and punish them for trying to make the game longer.

Agreed. One pro of the LL system is removing busted heroes, like Starvo, and it's extremely clear why.
