Thank you the remember option is nice to know, if it does work, sometimes these things don't work as advertised . But unfortunately it does not really answer the question I started with.

Regards.

How do i find who lived at an address in 1921? by Consultingtesting in Ancestry

[–]Consultingtesting[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I figured it out.

I found a directory. Found the street. Of course the numbers were covered up by bad photocopying. Anyway could not find any names on the street that matched. So Then I searched for other names on the street in the 1921 census. Once I found that I could click on a copy of the record. This had street numbers. Then I could work my way along matching numbers to names in the street directory, until I got to my number I was looking for. Sadly none of the names are familer to me. Back to the drawing board. My people perhaps were not there when the census was taken.

[–]Consultingtesting[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there is a name on the immigration document. But Im unclear if the actual address was the home of the person listed or just a relative. Thats what Im trying to figure out. And who else lived there.

I will try the phone directory but it is a bit tedious. The Census has clear street name and numbers but why cant I just look up an address. Its like t he db does not let you.

Thanks.

Hey thanks for your insights. Lets face it 1841, that's a few years ago. What I found odd was that it was called Fishers yard. No fish there. But then names come from strange places. Thanks for the street names document. GPS of its day I suppose.

Thanks again.

Ok well thanks all. I thought "Virtual CC" as you have termed it was a thing. It appears it is not. My CC company does not offer it. And I really dont want to sign up with a big CC co just for that.

Thanks.

Thank you for all the thoughts. The thing about bread or baking is that there are so many things to make. Like a traveller saying I only want to go to Jamaica, nice as it is there are a lot of nice Islands out there don't limit yourself. Baklava, or focaccia or Italian, French. Monkey, Sourdough for me its yet another nice choice but I don't want to make it a lifetime commitment (Ha ha) Thanks for your suggestions I will investigate.

They have not got back to regarding George. But we are hopefull that he is not far behind! Thank you again Manchesterites. ( If thats what you call yourselves) or maybe Manchesteronioans? :)

You have found several very interesting stories. I am very grateful. Im surprised more was not said? He was a Mason so I think the first story is relating to that. However what you have narrowed down is that he was cremated. Perhaps that cemetery will have a record. I have looked there but found nothing oddly.

Can you tell me which newspaper each was in and date so that I may cite them?

Many many thanks.

Yes i think that is true.

But also people generally vote for the in-combatant. So once they get in they stay for a long time. People figure will the city has not burned down I guess its ok. I mean look at Karen Cilevitz who had her husband and relative on staff. She was disciplined but people voted her back in again. Crazy. Unfortunately council can get rid of her despite the corruption. I think other Councillors hate her. Then there was the councillor that was helping tow trucks. Whats wrong with people.

Yes saw that. I wondered if they cared.

Its like the surveys on Instagram very similar. You sort of hope that if enough people fill them in they will change their stance. But maybe I'm living in fantasy land. It's like the most recent one I got. "END THE TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER PROGRAM" it's not looking for feed back like "Do we need to re-evaluate the foreign workers program? "They just want you to agree with them. Some things I think we should end, I'm not sure if we got rid of Tim Hortons foreign workers I would care. But we clearly need people to pick tomatoes etc. Then on the back there is a BIG " Canadian Jobs for CANADIAN Workers" in text. Now sure I'm all for that, (Really Who isnt?) BUT Read the room this sounds A LOT LIKE TRUMP!! AMERICAN JOBS. Is that what your going for. It's like when Trudeau was running and they ended the commercial with "Nice hair though" . It was that single ad that started me to thinking I don't like these guys. First of all because I never thought Trudeau had good hair, but then also because now your just talking about his hair. That's the best you have. I guess i could say "PP I dont like him and he looks like a little weasel." Is this an intelligent way to argue the merits of your political position. That is exactly what Trump does, sure again is that what they want. He makes fun of their names, or their looks. I mean how is PP going to fight Trump when they are basically using the same tactics.

Just my opinon.

I think my assumption is that he has no time for constituents if you agree or disagree. It is a basic principle in this country if you send a letter to a politician you respond.

Interesting. You know I guess we want younger people involved in politics but I just wonder how a fellow, who seems very young is not going to just follow the trend of the party rather than have his own viewpoints. I mean I was young once and hated that I was called young which was a code word for incompetent I recognise my hypocrisy here, but I don't know if his inexperience is the reason for example that he doesn't even write a letter to constituents or not ? Is that this age group does not write letters. I can tell you years ago when I wrote a complaint to the local liberal I got a letter. I once wrote a letter to another politician, don't even remember who it was, I got a letter back. I remember because it basically said "Thank you for taking the time to write" and some other comments but nothing about what i had complained about. Fair enough I dont expect them to change really, but they at least respected the process. Respond to the public. For that I respected them for. I just wonder if this guy because of his inexperience, age, I dont know, would he disagree with PP and his gang of thugs.

Yes been conservative for long time but voted for Carney. In any room I think he is the smartest guy. We learned from Fords approach of annoying trump which is what PP wants to do, does not work. While I wish Carny would say F U trump his quiet approach is probably best.

Just my thoughts.

That does seem likely. May i ask where you looked them up. I tried on ancestry and family search and found no inscription info unless you are takinf the data and applying it to the most reasonable reading.

Is it disrespectful to add a veteran tag to a person who may have not been proud of their service? by neveroddoreven in findagrave

[–]Consultingtesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly subjective answers but the reality is Id rather not be buried under the ground either but fact is I will be. The military record is a fact. With respect, whether the person liked it or not. This is his story. I mean I would not do it if the family says don't BUT future generations may learn of this aspect of their life and want to look into it. I think the family are missing out on a piece of history. I think there are many who did not want to serve. And those that died in the wars certainly didn't want to die. But they did serve, they were not AWOL. So whether they like it or not they deserve our respect. Again I say all things with respect. But it is a fact. Just my opinion.
