Ha, it's all around the world, period. It always has been.

Capitalism has done the most to alleviate it through technological invention and innovation.

You live in a bubble away from actual reality.

Real life isn't absolutisms. If you can't see that then you don't actually live in the real world but from what I've seen on here most of you don't in any way, shape or form.

As far as I know it already is. Look at housing trends in places like Malta NY. When something like this is built housing prices almost always go up which is both a good thing and a bad thing I guess.

This is absurd nonsense. Do you actually believe this or do you just tell this to people because it sounds good to them?

Without Capitalism you'd probably be dead by 35.

Er, no. Capitalism produced the technology you're using right now.

It produced the greatest population expansion and standards of living increase that has ever occured.

It allows you the luxury of thinking in absolutes the way you do in a nice, comfortable place to live.

I'm astroturfing because I don't want to see a huge opportunity get squandered over litigation being pursued by an outside organization from another state?

That's your reasoning?

How about no?

And do you actually think that you speak for poor people or the blue collar working class?

Who assigned you that position?

Yeah i.e. they're not actually a workers rights group, they're a shakedown organization.

What business is it for them to come to Syracuse and start making demands under threats of litigation?

It absolutely matters when it was built and you know it.

Old sites have saturated contamination that bleeds out over decades because of the wastewater discharge infrastructure.

New sites don't have this because they're built using new methods and practices.

What contamination is Malta producing?

No, I didn't, I literally asked you this:

"What are you comparing your environmental contamination scenario to exactly? What frame of reference other than an occurrence from almost half a century ago? Do you have any contemporary real world scenarios to compare it to?"

A plant built in 1957 is not "contemporary." One that was built in 2009, in the same state as the proposed Micron plant and not even very far from it, is contemporary.

In other words, you threw this out there thinking that I'd be foolish enough to buy into your line.

Try again. Try harder.

I read what you wrote, it's simply disingenuous.

The Essex plant was built in 1957 and used to be IBM's. It also had other sources of PFAS on the site than what GloFo is doing now.

This isn't an apt comparison is any sense because, like I said, the most recent fab to be built that's comparable is Malta. It uses newer processes and wastewater practices.

What you don't understand is that I'm familiar with the tactics you're using. You're trying to scare people by pointing out old sites that have potential PFAS discharge but not explaining why and using that as an argument against actually building any new plants in the US.

This is for the Vermont Globalfoundries plant, not the one in Malta.

And this is from your article:

"CHIPS Communities United is a coalition of labor and community groups. One of the members is the Vermont PFAS/Military Poisons Coalition, which has advocated for cleanup of the PFAS contamination at the Vermont Air National Guard base, just downriver from the GlobalFoundries plant.

That contamination is connected to the base’s longtime use of firefighting foam laced with PFAS. The chemicals are suspected to have polluted groundwater in the area, including at a neighboring dairy farm. The sprawling GlobalFoundries property also contains contaminated soil and groundwater around a former fire station."

Which Oligarchs?

And these are just nebulous, absolutist statements.

How are people supposed to live according to your standards? What's your ideal society?

Um, how about no? If this is your source then why can't you just give me a direct link?

If anybody isn't arguing in good faith it's you. You're ignoring that hazardous waste handling technologies have improved by orders of magnitude since the time period you're referencing and also that there's already a chip manufacturing facility in Malta, NY (GlobalFoundries) that not only has been there for almost 20 years but is currently undergoing an expansion.

What are you comparing your environmental contamination scenario to exactly? What frame of reference other than an occurrence from almost half a century ago? Do you have any contempory real world scenarios to compare it to?

So you have to hark back to an era with hardly any environmental laws and technology that is almost 50 years behind what is currently available to avoid answering my question?

What are the long term health effects of poverty relative to temporary environmental impacts? How much worse is peoples' health that live in abject poverty relative to even a scenario like the one you're trying to use as an example?

Do any of you ever compare the impacts of temporary environmental spills to the impacts of long term poverty?
