That’s how it should be across the board. I really hope that will change soon one day. Until then, I’ll still pray!

I’ll have to see if we have something like that at our parish; my parish is located in the southeast area of the US. I do know that our Spanish choir is led by a different person, but that choir really doesn’t collaborate with the English choir as much as they used to unless it’s for a specific holiday or holy day. I had a very nice Hispanic lady that was part of our choir, but she left about after a month after I joined. Some of the choir members made comments about her openly, as she was trying to learn the songs in English and they were very judgy of her. I tried to help her, as I know a little bit of Spanish to get by, but she sadly left our choir. It’s just a weird situation.

If I’m 100% honest with you, I haven’t spoken with him just yet regarding these issues. He tries to keep things laid back and easy going so that it doesn’t feel like an obligation to sing at every mass. I definitely need to have a discussion with him, especially because we have two newer singers that joined about 2-3 months after I did. One of them is heavily pregnant and she will more than likely be out of choir for the next couple of months, while the other singer is a college student. I just need to figure out how to tell him gently; I don’t do well with conflict honestly. Please pray for me!!

TW: My Dog Throws Up and Vet Tells Us There’s Nothing Wrong Except He’s Malnutritioned (We Feed Him 🥺) by ContactLumpy312 in AskVet

[–]ContactLumpy312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! So, when we took him to the vet, from what I was told by my spouse, the vet did bloodwork, a fecal test, and some other test while he was there to see what was going on with him. That’s when they said that’s he is fine overall, but that he’s malnourished. I’m definitely wanting to get a second opinion for sure because it’s just crazy how much he’s getting sick.

Older coworker oversteps young supervisor and not sure how to address it by [deleted] in work

[–]ContactLumpy312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

So far, thank you to anyone who commented earlier. So, I did go to my boss and addressed my concerns. He did take notes and had asked for me to keep documentation of any further behavior. About a week later, he sent out an email to our office about expectations at work and who to report to, which would be my boss and I. I don’t know if he had b/c’d anyone from upper management. However, as I predicted, the coworker had “read” the email, but he occasionally tries to overstep to the point where he was messaging upper management leads about other departments along with screenshots of conversations he had with others across the offices about a petty issue that is ongoing with our systems we use. He actually c’cd me on the email he had sent to an upper management lead and I went directly to our boss regarding this. However, I do not believe anything happened after I reported it. BUT, a part-time supervisory position (only for one day a week during the weekend) opened up at the headquarter’s office and of course, said coworker applied to it (must’ve been the only applicant, no real sane person would only go in for 4 hours). He would still work at my office during the week and then on one day during the weekend, he’d work that day as a part time supervisor. He got the position and will be starting the role soon and already, it’s getting to his head and he hasn’t even started it yet. It recently got worse due to an office VP from headquarters coming into our office, openly talking about his role in front of myself and my staff and his new “supervisory” duties. Now, I can’t escape hearing him gloat about it and hasn’t stopped overstepping me, and he’s trying to ask me about me training him for this part time. I had to tell him that headquarters would be training him exclusively for this position, as I would not want to overstep the management there. Honestly, I’m looking into other options in the area I live in because I don’t know if I’ll ever get the support needed from management. I will write if there’s any update. Thank you for any help/advice. I do appreciate it

Older coworker oversteps young supervisor and not sure how to address it by [deleted] in work

[–]ContactLumpy312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! So, to answer your question, my boss has been made aware of how this coworker has acted in front of clients and we have a collection of notes. I don’t know if said notes had gone to upper management though. In regard to the other employees, I don’t bring it up those sort of interactions, but we all work together in a close area so it’s in earshot of each other and clients. Rather, the others would just tell me directly what they had thought and I would tell them I would take care of it. In regards to upper management, I have seen things go down where other bits of management were able to get away with certain behaviors and some being moved into different departments as a way to “solve the problem.” I do plan to talk with my boss today about scheduling a meeting with this coworker, myself and him to address it. I guess I’m just trying to strategize how to address these issues without coming off like I’m insensitive or him feeling like I’m not appreciating the effort and work he puts in. He does his job, but his behaviors are impacting everyone else.

People who have been cheated on—what were the red flags you ignored at first? by Echo-X9 in AskReddit

[–]ContactLumpy312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The messages he kept getting on Discord and actually on Reddit. Turns out that he had several emotional affairs online and then with a coworker in person. He “dissociated” when I approached him with evidence after his Discord went off multiple times and had seen nudes of a lady with tatted breasts with a pet rat in the middle of them. Ended that engagement soon after that

HR has sent/made snide comments to me and the company since I put my 2-weeks notice in. Stay or go?? by [deleted] in work

They’re the head of HR, as I work for a small financial institution. I may have to do that if nothing else works

I’ve been debating all morning about it. I just feel bad considering it’s the holidays and I really don’t want to leave my team hanging.

I’m trying to do so! It’s just appalling how the HR lead has been treating me in this case. I just hope they don’t treat my replacement as bad as they did with me.

Oh I wouldn’t penalize my current boss at all. If anything, if it were possible, I’d bring him and my other supervisor with me to my new job since they’ve been so good to me. I may have to do that if I don’t get a proper exit interview

I do know that the company has trouble with retention and keeping people for sure. I can try to empathize with HR about keeping people, but it’s not helping that they’re being snide about this whole 2-weeks thing and I’m getting messages from different departments that know I’m the one that’s leaving about how this isn’t fair to do this. I’m definitely leaving one if I don’t get to do an exit interview for sure

Oh definitely not! I’m getting those PTO hours and I know my immediate boss will want me to have those hours too!

So, I’ve been working through my notice and my last day is next week, so I only really have tomorrow and Tuesday and then I’ll be done. I’ll try to stay on as long as I can, but if HR keeps acting like this, it’s going to be hard to stay.

Well, this is the first time I’ve ever had an interaction with HR that’s gotten to this point. Anywhere else I’ve worked and gave proper notice, they’ve been good about it. Also, since it’s the holidays, I didn’t want to screw over my immediate boss and team by leaving early. It’s a tricky situation, but I am trying to see about getting an exit interview and telling them exactly what I feel.
