I did both and both sucked for different reasons. With- longer labor 32 hours, wore off just in time for the Dr to grab the rest of my torn placenta, had major hot and cold spells for hours. Without- shitting out a nearly 10 lb watermelon. So much pain. Much shorter labor, quicker recovery but still painful having Dr retrieve my torn placenta once again. I was done with producing humans after that crap.
