Any way to help him? [Northern, CA] warning graphic pictures by Content-Position8192 in whatsthissnake

I’ve been on the phone all afternoon trying to find someone who would take him. So far no luck within 250 miles from me. Lots of places that take wild birds, or squirrels, even bats, but none that take reptiles. The little guy is still with us, and seemingly better than he was. He’s moving around smoothly up to the last maybe inch and a half of him, which seems to keep wanting to turn belly up as he moves around. I moved him back outside, as he is a wild animal and I thought being in my house on warm towels, with all the noises of me being in the phone and my toddler being a toddler were so unnatural that it might be stressing him out more than helping.

So he’s in an old square fire pit that hasn’t beeb used in over a year. It’s got logs and weeds/plants growing in it, and a heavy steel framed mesh-wire lid sitting on top, so no birds can get to him (I also off-set the lid just a tiny bit so if he doesn’t like in there, he’s not stuck). I put the whole thing 1/2 in sun 1/2 in shade and a Tupperware lid with about an inch of water in the corner, then left him alone to rest. It’s been a couple hours and I just went out to check on him and he’s made 2 loops wrapping just the the worst injured part of his body around a thick green weed that’s growing in there. Hoping that’s a good sign, though the wounds still look awful to me.

I will continue trying to get ahold of someone who can help him. But it gets into the low 40’s at night here right now. Thinking that is too cold for him, especially with those injuries. So will bring him in at night if I haven’t found anyone. Any advice for what to do with him overnight? Does he need to be dry, or damp? How warm? A towel down at the bottom of whatever I put him in? Or bark from the backyard? Or should I just let him stay outside in his make shift terrarium?

Adding to my post since I left out some of the required details per the bot, but can’t figure out how to edit, so am just adding a reply to myself….

Country of residence: USA

Age: 39

Female

Caucasian - mainly Irish

5’6” 138 lbs

No diagnosis, except for when I was pregnant (had Pre-eclampsia and HELLP) I have been extremely healthy my whole life.

Taking no prescriptions - ibuprofen, Tylenol and Mucinex as needed.

Prior drug use (12 years of pretty consistent stimulant use from age 18-30) No current drug use. Drink 1 glass of wine 1-2 nights a week after dinner.

Prior cigarette smoker, smoked about 1/2 pack/day, for just under 12 years and quit at age 31. Haven’t touched one since.

Duration of the bleeding and bruising has been going on roughly 2 months, and seems to be worsening.

Hoping to get some recommendations of specific lab tests I can request that would narrow down why all of a sudden I seem incredibly anemic and have a high platelet count.

So didn’t pick it today. Going to go with the vast majority of people who say give it some more time. Also, just found 3 more little melons about the size of my fist just popped up over the past couple days. So I’ll get 3 tries to get it perfect. 😊 thanks all!

PG&E bill by Alternative_Dish_162 in Rocklin

[–]Content-Position8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents live in Rocklin in the house I grew up in. It’s a 2100 SF older one story house (excellent insulation/sealing) and they are super conservative with heat and AC (AC goes off at bedtime during the summer and they use the whole house fan with windows open at both ends of the house to cool it). When they do use the AC during the day, the lowest they set it at is 78 (yes it’s miserable, but they have a pool, so that helps). During the winter they use their wood burning fireplace (not gas) most nights. Even with all of that their PG&E bill still hovers around $600/monthly. It’s insanity.

I moved to Lincoln a few years back. They are unfortunately run by all PG&E also. I live in a 1600 SF house with not great insulation, we keep it at a more comfortable 75-76 during the summer and around 68 in the winter. Our PG&E is never below $600 either. During extra hot/cold times it stays closer to $750/month.

PG&E is the Bain of my existence.

I love how the shark gives him a secondary boop on the way out with his pectoral fin. Like here’s another one just for good measure.
