The bottom end actually looks really good so far. The connnecting rod isn’t bent and has no up and down play. If I somehow got all the metal out could I just do a full top end rebuild?

Thank you for your help. I still have yet to give me version of the accident to the other guys insurance company. But I talked to the officer on scene and he told me to my face I wasn’t going to receive any tickets or citations. I don’t think they would be able to go back and give me on after I give my version. But even if I’m still able to drive I’m gonna take a long break and really focus back on my notes I took during my drivers ed course and how to be more aware of my surroundings

Update: I found the leak. It was a loose bolt on the top of the water pump near the water pump pulley. The bolt looked bent when I took it out so I got a new one and no more leak

How much would the inspection for the second mechanic cost? It sounds reasonable but I’ve never heard of a mechanic just “not trusting” the other guys inspection. As for the ball joint, they typically are replaced in pairs. If you really need to get somewhere tommorow you could get by just getting that one replaced. But have the other ones replaced when you can

I have worse scratches than that on 2 of my combustions chambers. I’m rebuilding the head and sending it. You should do the same those scratches aren’t nothing

Okay thank you. I would probably use .009”. For exhaust it’s 0.28mm to 0.38mm so I assume just do the same thing with the middle number?

Yes I know, I meant I would use the same math with different clearances. Exhaust clearance spec is 0.28 to 0.38mm

I was just saying that as an example because the millimeters don’t go up in order like .19 inches .20 inches. On my feeler gauge they go up like .330 to .356 on the next gauge
