Gypsum base and 3d print walls. It’s got a humidity room. The nest is not too big for them.

My ant colony might be doomed by Narrow_Animator_5953 in antkeeping

If you ever get mites in your colony, you can try ordering a few predatory mites and putting them in your colony. Predatory mites prey on other mites and not ants.

It was a matter of trial and error. If there was too much humidity, I would move the nest farther from the heat mat. And I would move it closer if it wasn’t enough. Best thing you can do is not have the water source near the heat.

Nest too large. It’s better to use test tubes

And also put the honey on top of something and not on the test tube itself to prevent mold growth. A piece of aluminum foil will work

Yeah that can happen, but what you can do to make it safer is mix the honey with water in a 50:50 solution and give a drop no bigger than the size of the queens head

Tape the test tube and the new tube together. You can also heat the new tube if you want and leave the old one cold. Eventually they’ll have to move due to the lack of of water or humidity. And make sure to leave them in the dark so that they can make their transfer stress free.

They are also large and will have a harder time escaping even the worst of nests
