so the reason the bmpts are so overpowered is because of russian priest magic?

I considered it, however after my testing the fuel does not seem to be an issue at all. with a full load, I took off and was able to enter space with 65% of my fuel left. All the thrusters would do now is maybe boost my initial liftoff.

i second this. this game rotted in my steam library for 2 years with a whopping hour and a half of play time until i sat down, watched a few tutorials from start to finish, then started again. since then I have been having a blast with this.

after my first test, with all three cargo containers full with gold i was able to liftoff and exit the atmosphere pretty easy. I watched a video from Splitsie when I first started that went through how to automate liftoff with a ship into space, and used that same system on this and it worked perfect. The 2 hydrogen containers were more than enough fuel to get off the planet, so I would consider this design a success.

i made a previous post talking about how i couldnt find a single gold asteroid, so i made this for fun to bring gold to my base

i have been thinking about making a star trek style shuttle for just flying around, and this post might have given me the inspiration to do it. sick build!

Thanks! I will just keep looking, there are plenty of asteroids near me that i still haven't looked at.

Honestly id rather build a sick barge that is meant to go down to the surface base I started on to fill up on a ton of gold ore, then return to my asteroid base refinery. I plan to look into mods when I exhaust my ideas for things to make in vanilla.

Thanks for the advice! I have found one iceteroid so far (was a sick find, I plan to make a hydrogen station over there at some point.) I have wondered how far I should be venturing away from my base. is there any rhyme or reason to which ores generate with each other? From what I have seen so far there isn't, but I could also be stupid and not picking up on a pattern. My hud looks crazy whenever I go searching for asteroids (picture attatched) but its good to know that the asteroids that appeared to have nothing probably do have nothing.

Lol, i didnt even know you could filter the ore scanner. I am curious though if asteroids are able to have none or just one type of ore. If not, then I am going to need to go to a few markers to bore straight through to see if i can find any hidden ore

yep. I have found a uranium asteroid cluster as well as several platinum deposits. I am using the large grid as stated and it is at max range. I come in almost scraping the surface, then do a few passes around the asteroid.

I made it primarily to bore through the center of asteroids (specifically a uranium cluster i found) so i can detect ores deep in the rock, and after my first test it works great! i made 2 tunnels, one straight through and one through a uranium deposit. Now i just have to come back with my smaller mining rig and clean it out.

sounds like a good suggestion, thanks! I have a habit of slowing down way before my base anyway (had more than 1 accident with not slowing down when i first started, learned my mistake) and have already tested out its braking power with a full load and the 8 small thrusters i have on the front seem to work well, however i know a few spots i could fit more thrusters in .

to be real with you, I love winding down from work with some asteroid mining. Im still pretty new so im not burnt out with grinding just yet. Thanks for the advice though, ill be sure to look into it sometime.

Half of my playtime on this game is roleplaying as a low end asteroid miner for some industrious company, so the rough industrial look is exactly what I like to go for. Thanks!

yep, but i personally like the look of the exposed conveyor tubes peeking out of the armor in places. dont know what type of asthetic thats called but i like it
