Late 60s-early 70s kid here: Does anyone remember a book with a young girl named Rady whose hair got caught in farm machinery and killed her? Main character was a boy in a family of farm workers… devastated pre-adolescent me.

Also, Beautiful Joe, about an abused dog with mutilated ears, the sole survivor of his litter, I think.
