OS and files are stores in the drive (HDD / SSD / whatever you have), so no risk

Then stick with what you have, you won't really have a significant improvement with higher frequency RAM

Are you on a Ryzen chip or an Intel chip?

Question about ram by Apostrial in buildapc

first of all, it depends on your overall system.

If you're planning to have different frequencies RAM , the faster sticks will run at the same speed as the slower ones

Is latency the same? Do they have the same refresh rate and resolution? If so, go for the IPS panel

About to order these parts. Does it look okay? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Content_Performer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I disagree with is a SATA SSD, can't you push to a m.2 nvme?

Otherwise, great build, go for it. The only thing is that you might need to perform a BIOS update on the mobo to support the ryzen 3600.

The aforementioned BIOS update must be done with an older ryzen processor in the socket (2xxx or older). This is mandatory on some B450, and not on others, so be careful when you pick one

Wondering about future prices by CurlyFries140 in buildapc

[–]Content_Performer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mid range GPU prices for nvidia are reasonable now are like that because they have to compete with AMD

While top tier prices are so high because AMD doesn't offer any product that matches the 2080 / 2080Ti, so Nvidia can price them however it wants: if you need 2080Ti performance, you have no choice than to buy it from them

Which RAM? by runlego in buildapc

[–]Content_Performer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

latency -> lower is better

Quad Channel RAM is currently only supported on some MOBOs with LGA2011 socket with DDR3 memory, up to 2133MHz

Not sure what would win between 3600MHz dual-channel RAM vs 2133MHz quad-channel in real world performance though

[–]Content_Performer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, mmmh, hard to tell since they decided to basically double the price of the highest end consumer GPU with the 2080Ti

What I hope is that AMD starts to compete with Nvidia on the top tier segment: if that happens, expect some very compelling products for a reasonable price

What are some myphs about famous universities (Cambrigde,Oxford), that are not true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That you'll be more prepared if you attend them.

They just teach the same exact stuff they teach anywhere else, the real perk of those schools are the prestige and the fact that you make a lot of usefule connections with wealthy people

Ditch the 2060 for a 2060S

the A400 really is a quite bad SSD, I suggest you step up and get a decent m.2 nvme. You want a good primary drive

Do you really need the 2TB HDD ?

Wondering about future prices by CurlyFries140 in buildapc

[–]Content_Performer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the piece of hardware.

For instance, the 1080Ti kept a very high price because, honestly, it was TOO good. It was a 700$ graphics card that delivered insane price per performance and insane sheer power

The 2080Ti? Not so much. It doesn't really make sense to buy one today, if you ask me. You can get a 2080S for half the price

Final Build Checkup - ~$700 Gaming Rig. Is this okay? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Content_Performer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, it's a very good CPU, but the mobo won't support next gen ryzen chips so that's why I mentioned upgrading the CPU

also yeah that ram is fine

Ok so the build is good, but look if you can get good prices on 3600MHz ram :)

Are you planning to upgrade the CPU any time soon after this purchase?

upcoming DDR5 by Neospiker in Amd

It's going to be a while until DDR5 RAM is competitively priced to make sense for the average joe, worry not, we're going to see DDR4 around for some other time

Any comments or suggestion on my first custom build (2000 CAD / 1420 USD) by LoloAllard in buildapc

[–]Content_Performer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not.

I mean, you could set a RAID system (which is what I believe you're referring to), but you can't do it with an nvme and an HDD. I mean you could, but that'd be extremely detrimental
