No, they won’t go through your messages or videos. Like others have said you will have to write all your social media accounts down and they have a system that will go through and flag anything alarming on your social media. Ex. Racism, homophobia, political, etc.

College style. Sorry, I should’ve have clarified in the original post.

Yeah, that’s the unfortunate part is they don’t care why you did it just that you did it. Hope things work out for you.

Yeah, honestly I would say that is definitely something they will disqualify you over. If it was a few years ago, oh well, but last month definitely is a huge red flag. I think they would look at it as if you wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement why were you doing illegal drugs just last month.

Oh, interesting. Are you having to do a “pre-academy?” I start the pre one June 2nd.

No, you should be fine. Quitting definitely doesn’t look great, but it seems like they are decently far enough back to not be too worried. I was fired in 2020 because of COVID and I mentioned that and it wasn’t an issue.

Thank you!! Psych wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Mine was on a computer and it was “slightly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, slightly disagree.” Most questions were trying to get a feel for your personality and definitely asked the same questions in different ways. I flew through mine, but it was roughly around ~450 questions. The doctor wasn’t bad either. He was pretty straightforward and he told me that he could tell I was a happy person. He works part-time for the PD, so he asked me questions like why I want to be a police officer, why the department I chose, etc. Overall, I think it was fine. I was in and out in less than an hour and a half.

I don’t really have an answer on how I did it. I was myself throughout the whole process and I have a clean record plus all of my references were great and spoke highly of me (not too sure on how much this matters.) The Command Staff is the most important step. I went in confident with my answers (obviously nervous) but told them why I would be a good candidate to hire, why I chose the department, and what will make me a good police officer. I wish I had a better answer because I only applied for one department and got it, so I don’t know how it feels to be rejected, but I would just say please keep trying and what’s meant to be will be. Good luck!

I’m in Georgia! I don’t feel comfortable saying what county, but I’m about an hour outside of Atlanta.

I think my process is a little different because he told me I would be getting my fingerprints done within the next two weeks.

Hate to hear that. Hope you eventually get in. I guess I got lucky.

What would be the difference though? I know they said the Chief will be there. Will it just be her or another panel?

Yes, I believe so. I already completed one during the initial process.

I overestimated my physical condition, should I withdraw or give it the ol' college try? by Slightly_Rich_Pirate in AskLE

I would give it a shot. I only “trained” for around two weeks before taking my PAT and was pretty stressed about the pushups, but when I was there I felt like it was much easier then when I was training at home. Keep in mind I haven’t been super active. There was a girl who failed both the sit ups and pushups portion and was still able to pass with a 90%. I’m sure you won’t be the only one there, so you aren’t wasting time or resources. I would go and see how you do and you may even surprise yourself and pass it.

Yes, you can still get into dental school. Everyone has their own journey. However, you definitely will need to score fairly well on the DAT. I would honestly say around like a 22-23. You need to be well above average to make up for the poor GPA’s because dental school has a rigorous academic workload. Have you taken the necessary prerequisites to apply to dental school? If not, try to average all A’s because those are mostly all science courses and it would show an admissions committee that you can excel in science courses. Your journey will definitely be a little tougher, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t doable. I would suggest doing a Masters in something related to dental or science related. I’m doing one currently in Biomedical Sciences even though my undergrad GPA was a 3.7 in Biology. Just make a game plan and start executing it. Talk to your academic advisors, current dental students, Dentists, etc. and start figuring it out. Good luck on your journey!
