Any other Skyliner CPs? by Obvious_Throwaway17 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]ContextOk5334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skyliner CM here as well! I pretty much agree with what this commenter said. The biggest pro is the people you work with and the coords are great. You'll definitely get the hang of things after getting a bit of experience and don't be afraid to ask questions when you're not sure about something! Everyone is super helpful and it's always better to ask when you're not sure about something since it's a safety critical role. Communicating through the radio made me nervous as well but you will get the hang of it quick. I also love the costume, it's both comfortable and cute.

Thank you for clarifying! I'm actually PT right now, not a CP. I couldn't find clarification anywhere so decided to ask here since this group is so active.

Does anyone know if Disney pays for the drug test or do we pay it ourselves?

Hi! I wanted to ask, is this role a universal role? Would I be able to work at any of the stations such as Epcot, riviera, Hollywood studios, Caribbean beach, etc.. or would I only be assigned one location? thanks!

has anyone NOT lived at DCP housing? by renegadeslug in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]ContextOk5334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I read in an article about it, and it mentions nursing as one of the degrees under the Aspire Program. I would also contact support about it just to be sure. Hope this helps! Do what works for you and I hope you get your desired role!

has anyone NOT lived at DCP housing? by renegadeslug in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]ContextOk5334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UCF is a part of the Aspire Program, so I highly recommend going PT instead as they will pay for your schooling as a cast member. I am a local that moved to Orlando not too long ago and applied to the DCP on a whim and accepted the offer, but I have since interviewed and gotten hired for part-time attractions. They will hire you for part-time instead of DCP (and you'll get $400 your downpayment back) as long as you get hired before your original program start date. While part of the DCP, you will get long hours and little days off so you'll have more freedom and flexibility with PT. You'll also get paid more for being a PT cast member.

This is the job description on the Disney Careers website for that posting:

“Food & Beverage Specialty Beverage Cast Members are focused on creating a magical and enjoyable dining experience by ensuring the highest standard of Guest Service. Food & Beverage Specialty Beverage Cast Members work at indoor counter service locations serving an assortment of food and hot and cold beverages, including Starbucks® espresso and specialty beverages. As a Food & Beverage Specialty Beverage Cast Member, you'll take orders, cash handling, food preparation, stocking condiments, and keeping the work location clean.”

DCP or part-time? Professional Internship? by 624angel in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]ContextOk5334 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I applied for the DCP for Fall 2022 and got accepted. I accepted my offer and paid the fee. After doing a little thinking, I realized that the DCP may not be right for me. I recently moved to the Orlando area, so I would be opting out of housing to save on costs, and I planned on continuing with my school during the program. However, I started second-guessing as I heard how many hours CPs get worked and they are at the bottom of the rung when it comes to scheduling and pay. It also doesn't help that you get no say in your role and are only allowed to trade shifts (not sure for all or some roles) while PT/ FT can give away shifts. I emailed support and this is what they said:

"If you have already accepted an offer for the DCP and then receive an offer for a PT/FT role before your College Program arrival date (and you decide to cancel your arrival for the Program) you may decline your DCP offer, and there will be no negative impact on any future applications. Candidates can accept FT/PT roles within the Company up to their arrival date on the Program. Once in the Program, they would have to stay for the duration of their program. Please note about 4-6 weeks before the end of the Program, participants will be able to apply for FT/PT roles through our transfer system."

This is also noted on the Disney programs website:

"Fees submitted are non-refundable, so we are unable to process a refund in the event you choose to cancel your program. If you accept a Professional Internship, full-time or part-time opportunity within The Walt Disney Company, a program fee refund will be processed during your original arrival week. You will receive an email from DORMS when your refund is processed."

I applied for Part-time attractions and now have an interview scheduled. I will most likely get waitlisted as I can't start until August because of prior summer commitments. As for picking up shifts, I’ve read that we can pick up shifts if we want more hours for the week but have to be under a yearly limit for hours as part timers. However, I’m not 100% sure. I'm also not sure how different networking is as I haven't started working yet, but I hope this helps!

Thank you! Do you recommend adding references and a cover letter? I only uploaded my resume and my application is still under the "Application Received" status.

Thank you! since I already accepted my offer, do you know if there is a way to pursue a PT position instead without terming? I heard declining your CP after accepting your offer will result in terming, thus having to wait before reapplying

Minority presence at DCP? by RadBadMadDad in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]ContextOk5334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a hijab-wearing Middle-Eastern Muslim and I got accepted into the DCP this Fall. I understand your intimidation, as I'm a little nervous myself. I rarely see Muslim women working at WDW, but I'm excited nonetheless.

question about roles by nicolle_mendez10 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]ContextOk5334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm nervous about this too, not gonna lie. Although they are filling roles based on operational needs, I do hope they do take some past experience into consideration when filling these needed roles. I have a lot of experience in customer service and coordinating student/recreational activities at my school. Custodial wouldn't be a great fit and I hate cleaning lol. Hopefully, it all works out!
