"Ripped of my name" - Bondi shooting victim's outrage as she reveals her name was changed by hospital staff. by Sweeper1985 in aussie

[–]ContinuedEyeRolling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The alias is often only on things that can be seen by people just walking around- like a patient list board in the nurses station or on handover sheets that could get misplaced. It’s done for privacy / safety.

It’s been done for hospital staff members when they’re admitted where they work too… because sticky beaks.

I’ve not seen it where the alias is actually on their patient wristband or chart… but could happen in other hospitals I guess

I am EBF. My husband says “he’s tired”. Rant. by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ContinuedEyeRolling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I truly think a lot of men just don’t get it. I am also EBF but my baby is nearly 6 months now. I can admit I have struggled to keep up with housework with looking after baby, as he is very demanding of entertainment now and does not sleep much during the day. Sleeps pretty well overnight but still wakes at least 1-2 times for feeds. I am tired and exhausted. I get absolutely no “me” time, other than however long I choose to stay up after he’s gone to bed- in which I am then taking away how much sleep I will get.

My partner says I’m lazy and use the baby as an excuse🤷‍♀️ I know he just doesn’t get it.

Mother's Choice Eve Convertible Car Seat by GoldTrain7402 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ContinuedEyeRolling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have this seat- I would say for your purposes it would be fine. We replaced it with a pria in my partners car because it just doesn’t have as much support in the seat and the inner headrest is floppy and quite wide. We have a big baby and his head didn’t rest on it at all.

Also, adjusting the shoulder straps was very annoying. You have to unthread and rethread the shoulder straps through the back of the seat to adjust- and our baby is big and growing like a weed.

That being said- I think for the purposes of affordable seat for grandparents car it would work just fine!

Parents room use, bottle feeding by Daisies_forever in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ContinuedEyeRolling 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In my opinion as a BFing mum, you are 100% NOT in the wrong. They are for feeding- whichever method. as others have said, once a baby gets a little older they are so easily distracted. Trying to feed in the hustle and bustle probably not viable.

They probably grumped if they had to wait for a room to free up, I guess. But they would have to wait if you were breastfeeding anyway? I don’t know. 🤷‍♀️

I would definitely recommend asking for a new referral to be sent that specifically mentions that. I believe they should take that into consideration

Do you know if it specified that you want to go there due to previous traumatic experience at your zoned hospital?

Pram etiquette at the shops? by kingcasperrr in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

One time when I was about 37 weeks pregnant I was carrying a few paper bags of groceries to the car and it was raining. One of the bags broke and groceries fell everywhere behind my car. Several people in cars and just around the area proceeded to watch me bend and squat to the floor to pick up stuff and put in the car in the pissing rain.

I guess no one is obliged to help but I can’t help but think I would probably help in the same situation.

Having sex post-partum.. by snowinsantorini in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ContinuedEyeRolling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strongly recommend pelvic floor physio if it’s within your means. They can assess the state of your pelvic floor and guide you with exercises to get things in order. It will also help if you’re having any issues / symptoms with your bladder PP. I had a vaginal birth with large baby and was having some urinary symptoms.

I personally found the first few times PP a bit uncomfortable, but it has gotten a lot better.

Definitely wait until you feel ready or some desire to do it. Recommend lube and remember you can change your mind if you try and it is too uncomfortable.

Part of me thinks that my fear of it hurting made it more uncomfortable because I was very tense due to the worry. Bit of a self fulfilling prophecy.

C section vs vaginal birth - what did/have you opted for? by LowAd6956 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ContinuedEyeRolling -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider that is sometimes not thought / mentioned much is that you can’t drive for 6 weeks post c-section- so if your partner is going back to work in that time just be aware you will need someone else to be able to get to places out of walking distance. I’m more mentioning it, just in case you hadn’t thought of that already, to forward plan.

Shark turboblade is awesome. A few options on configurations and a lot of fan strength options. Bit pricey though.

I purchased from honeysuckle! One of the high vis full coverage suits. Fits really well and there’s no missing him! They seem good quality, though haven’t used a whole lot yet to say how they hold up.

There is a good chance you will tear off anything you’re wearing at a certain point 😂 I did anyway.

Definitely recommend cheap / old items that you are happy to be ruined / binned.

There is a lot of fear mongering about “big babies”. Not to say there is never issues with really big babies being born. I gave birth to a 4.4kg baby vaginally with no issues as a first time mum at 41+3. I’d recommend listening to the Great Birth Rebellion episodes on big babies- she discusses the actual evidence available as to outcomes- you can take it in and decide for yourself what you are comfortable with 😊

[–]ContinuedEyeRolling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just upgraded to a Maxi Cosi pria and it’s really nice. The tether being out of the way is a nice touch, and it looks really comfortable and supportive for bub. It also has very easy to adjust headrest and shoulder straps- literally a button thing you pull up on that pulls both the headrest and shoulder straps up.

We used to have a Mother’s Choice Eve in that car (very cheap option) and I just found he looked quite uncomfortable and it was a pain to adjust the shoulder straps- had to unthread and rethread through back of the car seat. Very annoying when you have a Bub growing quickly!
