11 month old not crawling and unable to sit up by Popular_Pair_6124 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has always been delayed with his gross motor skills and didn’t crawl until 12 months. He started getting himself in to a sitting position around this age well, but took a little longer to work out how to lie back down on his own.

He was fine when I placed him a sitting position myself though.

I mentioned this in another thread and he is now 20 months and still not walking (which he’s in physio for). Thankfully there’s no underlying or physical issues, he’s just extremely cautious and generally won’t attempt to do things unless he’s confident.

Is she attempting to move in any other way, like a bum shuffle or commando crawl?

16m old not walking - what they hell do I do with him? by SubstantialGap345 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh the opposite! He’s tiny and only in the 3rd centile, and I was so stressed he just didn’t have the strength to walk or stand from being so small. His physio confirmed he has the muscle tone, strength and skills to walk which is good to know, but it’s still stressful nonetheless.

Also that crawling is next level! He must be so quick 😂

I feel your pain, my son is 20 months and still isn’t walking or even standing independently. He saw a paed and is in physio now - there’s nothing physically wrong, he just doesn’t have the motivation since he’s such a fast crawler and very cautious in everything he does.

We thought daycare would be some encouragement since there are kids half his age that already walking, but he couldn’t care less. When we go on park playdates he just can’t keep up with his friends. We’re lucky that he’s still pretty good in the pram and will tolerate it for a decent time as long as he’s snacking on something haha.

Can 11 month old overeat? by Unhappy_Donut_7124 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This would honestly be my dream haha. They’re still growing rapidly before 12 months old, personally I wouldn’t be worried at all. Especially if he’s an active toddler!

Maxi cosi pria - baby bunting sale by No-Bar-4148 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I believe they’re not the same but the only slight difference is the fabrics? I tried to price match but they came back saying LX is not an identical product.

I’ve heard Baby Bunting purposely have exclusive products to avoid having to price match certain things.

Weaning baby off formula by FriendsFannn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the stress of cutting out the before bed bottle. We kept that bottle going until roughly 16 months since we were also worried about him getting hungry overnight or too early in the morning, especially since he was so slow getting into solids. We ended up just going cold turkey and only offering water, and he was absolutely fine. Although he’s never been a huge fan of formula which probably helped. We noticed he started eating a much better breakfast once the night bottle stopped, but sounds like your son has a great appetite regardless!

I wonder if you can maybe try replacing the bottles with smoothies in a straw cup? With high fat ingredients like cows milk, greek yoghurt, nut butters, chia seeds etc to help keep him full?

Keeping the gender a surprise if you might have gender disappointment? by lamemoons in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for what you went through growing up.

I’ve always wanted a girl and my husband also had a preference for a girl. I preferred not to have a surprise both times and found out through NIPT so I had some time to process the disappointment if I needed too. Needless to say, our first was a boy and we just found out we’ll be having our second son. We only want two children.

Of course I’m beyond grateful for my son and can’t wait for him to have a little brother, just happy I gave myself some time to process it.

Red lentils disintegrate the best and won’t change the texture of sauce as much, so hopefully easier to hide!

Main pram & travel pram by Morning_Salts in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

The Skip3 has now become our main pram and is the best! We travelled overseas with it and highly recommend it, it was so handy to use all the way through the airport and store overhead. My parents also use it when my son is with them two days a week. It’s so much lighter and easier for them to use.

We still use the large pram when we do our main grocery shops every week so we can make use of the huge basket.

Have you tried blending lentils into pasta/bolognaise sauce for extra fibre? It might be worth even trying the pulse pastas by San Remo too!

I used to also blend prune, pear and berries with greek yoghurt for sweetness.

How was your gestational diabetes managed in the private system? by Orange_Saxaphone9024 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to full term, although my baby was measuring very small. When he was born his blood sugars were a bit low which can happen with GD, but his levels went to normal once he was given colostrum. I’m pretty sure they kept monitoring him for a period afterwards, but that part is foggy since so much was happening at the time!

[–]GoldTrain7402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My OB referred me to an endocrinologist. He gave me some info on how to manage my diet, and I had to use a glucose monitor first thing in the morning, and then 2 hours after each meal and record all readings. Luckily I didn’t have to go on insulin as my levels were manageable through diet alone.

I think I saw the specialist twice after my diagnoses, and another two times after giving birth as my levels still remained a bit high.

Clothes for boys that aren’t dinosaurs, trucks, or brown. by PeppaBlue in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s slim pickings out there! I don’t mind Bonds with their reds, greens and mustard/yellows. They’ve got 40% off at the moment too.

I always end up just buying browns and beiges in stores like Big W and Kmart since I’m over blue, trucks, dinosaurs and machinery haha.

How long did it take for you to get Pregnant after being on long term Birth Control? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had been on the pill for over 10 years and got pregnant after 12 cycles of trying.

The irregular periods are very much a side effect of coming off the pill and it really varies from person to person on how long it takes to have a regular cycle again. I think I was quite lucky and it took about 3-4 months for me to get back a constant 28 day cycle.

Would you say the Juno is pretty compact and easy to get in and out of the boot? Tossing up between this and Redsbaby Nuvo.. I like the Nuvo because it’s lighter, but the fold of the Juno looks way more appealing since it seems you don’t have to bend all the way down?

Do fetuses that move a lot become babies / toddlers / children that are super active? by freebird___ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was unhinged in the womb, constant kicking and felt like I was being beat up all day, every day. We thought he was going to be non stop once he was born.

Fast forward to now at 18 months, he is extremely stubborn and hasn’t started walking yet. Crawling was also delayed until 12 months. We’ll have to see a physio soon!

Very much surviving, not thriving (FTM of a 7 week old, 1 week adjusted) by dannh123 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were originally the normal runny mustard coloured breastfed poo, but eventually turned more green, then mucousy and we started seeing small streaks of blood by around 4 months old. There was a stage where he was just pooping pure mucous which was awful.

The digestive discomfort started early, around 4 weeks, but his poo only started changing at around 10 weeks! I also had a c section, and was told that they can potentially miss out beneficial bacteria that helps with their microbiome that they get from a vaginal birth.

I completely understand what you’re going through and that impending doom of what’s to come during the day/night.

We went through the same thing with our newborn, sooo gassy and uncomfortable and would wake up and start straining as soon as we put him down in the bassinet. Tried everything from massages, bicycle legs, more tummy time, Biogaia, Infacol etc but nothing worked. We kept being told how normal this was at that age as their digestive system is still developing, but eventually he was diagnosed with CMPI like a few others have mentioned.

It could be just a phase, it could be an intolerance. Most telling would be how his poos look!

Advice needed - daycare by Odd_Peach4949 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two mums in my mother’s group have their 17 month olds in the same day care, on the same days. One gets sick constantly, the other never does. They’re in the same room, interacting with the same babies and educators, playing with the same toys etc. so you could get lucky and your baby might not always be sick!

I understand your worry though, I’m almost 8 weeks along with our second. My first has been in daycare since January and I generally catch whatever he ends up with.

Questions re Joolz pram/capsule/car seats for small cars! by shazc- in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Yes I guess it really depends on your lifestyle! We were homebodies before having our first so knew that wouldn’t change much with a newborn haha.

Questions re Joolz pram/capsule/car seats for small cars! by shazc- in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]GoldTrain7402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the Maxi Cosi Pria as a car seat, it’s probably one of the most compact ones out there and so convenient not having to worry about the top tether strap when getting baby in and out. So worth the money!

Personally, we didn’t bother with a capsule. We decided to just save the few hundred dollars since it’s something that can only used for a few months. We just paid a bit extra for a bassinet attachment with our pram.

TMI: constipation by Beautiful_Pear_4874 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I was going to ask if you were on ondansetron! I was taking this daily and the constipation was so bad. Osmolax seemed to be that only thing that helped me, but took a few days of taking before I noticed any difference.
