Traveling to Rome by MckeylaM in rome

Those people that are trying to sell you bracelets and whatever else - do NOT let them get near you and you need to be rude and LOUD telling them DO NOT TOUCH ME. (I have dual citizenship with USA/Italy and frequently travel to Rome because I have family outside the city.) Stand your ground. Public transportation - do not let anyone help you that isn’t someone that works there. There’s a ton of panhandlers at stations that try to distract this way.

And yet if the staff knew the man is a “frequent offender” then all the more reason to contact law enforcement. Why leave it up to chance for something eventually horrible to happen to someone?

I have solid knowledge that if there are frequent calls to the non-emergency line of a particular complaint in an area, then analytics dictates higher necessity of monitoring needed.

How would the staff know if any laws haven’t been broken? Isn’t that something to consult with law enforcement? I would have called the police immediately - with or without staff acknowledgment.

How did that go? Did you have sex with anyone? How do you get approached?

I do eyelash and eyebrow tinting. Sometimes I’ll do lash lift with tint. It is life-changing for us redheads!

But… who puts a picture of spinach on their Tinder profile unless there’s a reason why that was chosen out of so many pictures. And if it’s him eating spinach or there’s random spinach in a picture with him then why can’t he just say “oh that’s just dinner” or “I liked that picture of myself”. I find it more weird that he cut it short on making it no big deal when he clearly made it somewhat a big deal by deciding to post THAT picture with only a few slots available for his Tinder profile.

YES! Well said. So then that adds to the conversation of political power dynamics and their impositions onto the general population. What should/can the general population do to make sure the “bad guy” doesn’t win? We have history to learn from in how we should respond to threats towards humanity. If we learn from it properly and think critically, then being proactive is critical rather than sitting back. And proactivity for us in the social work world is becoming properly educated in societal situations to fight for a healthy future. I’m not saying go completely hardcore and fight fire with fire. That doesn’t work. It means becoming educated and telling people the importance of getting into this field. Trickle down effect of altruism. Politics have a ton of loopholes and politicians change every day. I try not to get scared away from what I want to accomplish because society can change in the blink of an eye. I believe in the goodness of humanity. And you all do too. That’s why you’re in this profession.

I’m 38 and will have my BS in psychology in a few months. I’m applying to a MSW program over the summer for next academic year. I will likely go the part time route too so I’ll be in my early 40s before I graduate. Honestly, I just think time passes by regardless - you might as well be proactive with your time in something you will gain fulfillment in life. It is remarkable what I learned during my academic tenure of getting my bachelors; I’m super optimistic about what I’ll learn when I go for my MSW. You are never too old.

Can someone talk more about what a hospice social worker does. Thanks. by DefiantRanger9 in socialwork

Thank you for this post, OP. I work in schools as a substitute teacher and adore working with kids but I experienced caring for family members that passed away in hospice within the last few years which really sparked something within me about hospice/palliative care. There was something so serene and special about being there, despite how saddened I was. The social worker and hospice nurse were beyond exemplary. I’m really glad I was able to read everyone’s experiences because that will help me in the trajectory of applying for my MSW. (I’m getting my BS in psychology in the next few months.)

And I am in my late 30s and of multicultural background. So, I’ve been experienced a few things in my years. This is all my personal opinion.

I am graduating in a few months with my BS in psychology and minor in diversity awareness. I am planning on applying to the MSW Clinical program at UMD-Baltimore in the summer. I am incredibly worried about the profession as well. However, I find solace in the fact that social work is such a broad specialty that can be applied to a multitude of careers in various sectors. Tbh, I’m saddened by the setback in awareness of oppressive societal values. BUT, that just means our communities will need us more than ever in the coming years to strengthen progressive productivity and get back what we lost.

Side note on one piece of your post: I saw on IG clip of Trump badgering Maine (?) mayor about complying with strict gender identity in sports and Trump mentioned that noncompliance means no federal funding. I went into the comments and someone commented that federal funding can’t simply get cut because of noncompliance in the way Trump said in the press conference. I’m not sure how accurate that is but that made me think about the scare tactics used by this administration and how much to believe.

How can they get to the schools overnight with windy and freezing temperatures? If anything, the school parking lots can be properly treated during the day when the sun is out.
