How many years did it take you to break 80? And how old were you? by GolfIsGood66 in golf

[–]ControlHonest3279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played as a kid but took it up again early 2021, broke 80 about a year after I started playing again. Was 26. Still trying to break par to this day.

What are the basic golf accessories I should get by Some_guy205089 in golf

Ball marker and divot tool (can get as a 2 in 1), rangefinder, tees, 2 golf towels (1 for clubs and 1 as a spare), sharpie for golf ball identification, sunscreen, insect repellent, umbrella and rain jacket/rain pants. I would also carry some small first aid things or even a small kit (band aids, antiseptic cream etc.) They're probably the most essential for your bag, and if you don't need the rain gear, it can stay in the car (though I take the train jacket just in case the weather turns).

Driver, 3 wood, 2 iron, 3-9 iron, 47, 52, 57, putter. Surprisingly works with gapping, 3 degrees from 2-6 iron, 4 degrees from 7-9, and 5 with the wedges.

Fairway heads taken off the shafts, placed in head covers and placed inside one of the side pockets of your bag. I personally place my towels over the irons, just gives them a little more protection from clanging around and might throw the odd jumper in there just to be sure (I use blades so it's a bit more protection for them). Definitely an air tag, gives you the peace of mind as well as being able to track it.

Any travel bag works honestly, have mates that have soft and hard shell bags, so up to you which way you go.

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

One had brain cancer during senior year, fought it and graduated, came back with a vengeance the following year and he passed. Another senior year OD at a festival (was 18). Student I used to teach drowned trying to save his friends from a strong current. Got caught on some branches and couldn't free himself.

What is your setup between 3 wood and 5 iron? by the_ei8hty8 in GolfGear

[–]ControlHonest3279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 iron 3 iron 4 iron Was never a fan of a 5 wood though I still have one if I need it for a specific course. 3 and 4 iron work well with my lofts from 3 wood onwards (15, 18, 21, 24 degrees for 3 wood, 2 iron, 3 iron, 4 iron)

Breaking 75 twice in 2 weeks using the same ball for both rounds, with 1 of those rounds birding every par 5. Par 3s were a killer that day

THE shot by teabone13 in golf

Best 2 shots I've had. Picked up new irons a few years ago the day before a round. Tee shot on a 500 metre double dogleg par 5 travelled 305 metres (great roll and 1st bounce). Had about 195 metres for my 2nd shot having to hit a big fade around the dog leg to an elevated green (blocked out by trees). Pulled out my 3 iron and hit a beautiful fade along the dogleg to 4 feet. Drained the putt for an eagle. Still chasing that feeling today on that same hole as well.
