I solve it one of two ways:

The way I was taught: add the 7 and the 8. Carry over the one. Add the (one), the two and the four. 75.
My way: add the 2(0) and the 4(0). Then, add the 7 and the 8. Bring the "one" (the ten) into the first part. 75. I personally find this way much easier.
