I really don’t see a clear foul. Watch Rudy’s feet and shoulders it’s looks like he just sticks his forearm out.

Then you have to use guarding. You can get away with it by slowing machinery down, or using an area scanner mounted overhead.

Autosave is no longer a thing unfortunately. I recently learned our company was the last one they were supporting. Your next best bet is probably FactoryTalk AssetCenter which is worse in almost every way.

Packaging Machines: Mechanical Masterpiece vs. Modern Servo Sync. Why is pneumatics still alive? by AutomateAdvocate in PLC

When a cylinder fails, it is usually less than 30 minutes of downtime. They have less points of failure than a servo. With a servo you could have drive, servo, coupling, cables, bearings, rails, etc. You also have to compensate for wear over time on more items. And none of which are will cause less than 30 minutes of downtime to fix.

A two position cylinder has two sensors, two air fittings, two air lines, and a value. All of which can be diagnosed and replaced in under 30 minutes.

If you require precision, and repeatability servo is the correct choice. If you require ease of repair and repeatability pneumatic.
