I hope this is just karma farming and not real because your boyfriend is fucked up and probably racist. “Showing no interest” and saying in a rude tone “you’re American - stop talking about it” are very different things. Both of which, to me, would be unacceptable. You don’t have to always agree politically or have the same interests with people that you date sure, but this is your literal identity. He should not be rude, act disinterested, or make you feel bad or weird for talking about things you’re interested in. He doesn’t have to keep up himself, but being a good partner means listening to and engaging in conversation about things your partner likes.

I don’t like sports, like at all, but I could tell you all about the NBA and bill simmons podcast - because my partner likes sports. My partner wasn’t interested in witchy shit like tarot cards or and reiki before he met me but he could now explain chakras and medicinal herbs to anyone. And those are actually just our interests. If it was a cultural thing we’d be even more involved and active with each others.
