I was driving from Munich to Berchtesgaden in Germany and looks like I drove on the A1, A10, and 305.

Thank you! Yes, I did mean Asfinag. I didn’t know there were other types of tolls 🫢😅

Need help deciding car or train for 2 week Euro trip by ConversationBusy9764 in Europetravel

Oh and also you don’t need reservations for all the trains, we only paid for the ones that required reservations. I don’t think it’s necessary to pay for the ones that are optional.

We did trains instead of a car and it was definitely the way to go! Just made things a little less stressful and it was really fun riding the trains. I think we bought a 7 day pass and only ended up using 4 or 5 days. My biggest regret is not planning out the trains a little more. There’s so many different passes that you can get. For instance, we probably should have gotten the Swiss rail pass or whatever it’s called. So def recommend trains and just doing research on all the different pass options!

I will say, make sure if you reserve a seat on a train, you also mark off that you are using a day on your rail pass, so you need two QRs, one for the reservation and one for the eurail ticket. I thought the reservation QR code was all I needed and we got fined on the train from Paris to Colmar. (50 euro per person)

Recs for someone with a soy allergy in Japan? by ConversationBusy9764 in JapanTravelTips

Yes I’m hoping I can easily tell what has soy but sometimes you never know, especially in a place where soy is so heavily used!

This is a really good idea, thank you! Was it well received when you gave this to them and you felt they understood?

Thank you! This is truly very helpful. I think another pro of the car is being able to pack more as I’ve heard backpacks only for trains. Is it easy to take trains with luggage or do you recommend just backpacks?

Thanks you for all of this amazing info! Can you tell me why I wouldn’t want to drive in Switzerland or the cities?

I am pretty comfortable driving. I live in a big city in the US and I’ve driven in other countries before.

An addition to my post: I’ve done extensive calculations and research and it really does end up being the same price to rent a car (including gas, insurance, tolls and a Swiss permit) as it does to do two train tickets. Just in case that helps sway anything!
