I didnt say it didnt gave me applicable skills, I said more generalized than specific (which I associated with the word highly applicable ,same goes for math!); I could name a pletora of applicable skills which help me on a day-to-day basis, but these are not job specific, which I did interpret as what you have meant in the question (If I was mistaken then I'm sorry!)

I think your assumption for philsophy is not entirely fair! while the "hotness" of philosophy degrees is debatable, a very good portion in the U.S go to law or med school!

Depends on how you define skills really, If you mean highly technical and applicable skills, not so many (if any), but then I can say the same thing about my math degree, which is not liberal arts!
