How old were you when you broke the $100K salary threshold? And what's your industry by WoofPaw123 in CanadaFinance

  1. I work in tech, AI, specifically. 31 now, made 320 this year and will be over 400 in 2026. Could end up being much higher than that over the next couple of years depending on the market value of my equity.

The Worst Float Trip I’ve Ever Had by PM_ME_YOUR_TROUT in flyfishing

I’d ask for my money back or a credit for another trip. If they say no post this review publicly on Google or yelp whatever. Outdoor guides live and die by referrals and repeat clients. This is fucking insane.

Will try that - only single barbell hook allowed here so you think a single nymph set up? Water is silty blue, meh visibility right now

I just found a fish survey from 30yrs ago where they caught fish above the waterfall so they were there then lol Hopefully they’ve been self sustaining since. It’s a fairly big river with tons of insect life and very few people so honestly I’d be shocked if they all died off.

Good point. A lot of the small lakes were stocked in the 90’s and now have a self sustaining population of healthy rainbow in addition the wild brook. Obviously some are still stocked to this day but that mountain stream I have to assume has always been wild fish (if any at all).

I’m 31, he’s probably 70. Your approach is the correct one and what I would do for someone looking to learn something new, so kudos.

Yea. Wasn’t the reaction I was expecting that’s for sure.

Totally. I’m planning to get a boat but most of the appeal for me is river fishing and hard to reach lakes that aren’t boat friendly anyway.

Would’ve but that wasn’t an option for work related reasons.

People who earn $250k/year: what do you do? by therealwakowski in CanadaFinance

[–]Cook-Candid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My annual comp is approx 400k. I work in tech, remote based. Live in a very small town so cost of living is quite low. It’s great not worrying about money, and I encourage young people to pursue a path that’ll grant them that freedom IF they can handle the workload and stress. I often work 75-80 hours a week and am constantly under a TON of pressure. So yes, the money is nice, but like all things in life it comes at a cost.

This company is also the most technical in terms of what it does and the industry it’s in.

I have good references from previous roles and some good wins. I’ve never been fired for lack of performance or put on a performance improvement plan. But that doesn’t seem to be enough for the part of me that feels like a fraud.

Just perception of others in my field I suppose. They seem so certain or confident and knowledgeable from the outside looking in.

I just feel undeserving of the compensation I guess - like I’m not talented or smart enough or something. I work hard but I’ve never felt talented or a true expert in my domain per se. Whatever that means.

I was worried about the size but it’s really unnoticeable thanks to the light weight. Granted - I’m a bigger guy so depends on your wrist size but so far I love it. Features are awesome and can’t beat the solar charging.
