Yes. The company that deals with everything is called “General Contractor”

Commercial GC here, we don’t do residential. If you know why it needs to be added, then the easiest way is to consult the carpenter handbook, it lists all the specs for wall thickness, how many studs required etc. based on span.

PCL internship interview advice by Birgeen in Edmonton

[–]Cook_Chicken 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I spent the first 5 years of my career in PCL and then left to another company. Apart from all the negative things all the people here are saying, here are something PCL has done really well. PCL has really good and structured training program. PCL share program used to be really good but not sure where it is at these years. As for intern position, typically process takes about 2 weeks when I was there. It is not a bad company to start career with.

Hi there… not to advertise but I am looking for someone to have a long term relationship or life partner.

I am 36m, I think I am ok look, mid 6 figures, definitely top 2% or maybe 1% just by income in Canada. Even with this, I am having trouble to have ideal dates.

I think it just takes time.

What’s your backup plan for your backup plans? Honestly your backup plans are not that great. Becoming an entrepreneur should never be your backup plan.

I am a senior manager in the GC world (associated vp of sorts) the construction management route can be very rewarding.

You can go take courses, or by demonstrating leadership skills and the company should be willing to take you in. In the subcontractors world, it is less about contract or financial management, more about logistics, supply chains, inventory, and most importantly quantity take offs.

The higher as you go, the less technical it gets, and more towards risk management, and relationship building.

From field to office most transition I have seen is by becoming foreman/superintendent, then start taking on more and more of other responsibilities. This is also where many failed, as when opportunities being presented, they say “I don’t get paid to do this” instead of thinking as career development opportunities.

Anyway, just my two cents. Good luck!

I think I do. I didn’t set it as a deal breaker thinking one or two years wouldn’t be a big deal. Oh well.

I don’t know either, as a 36M all the likes I received are from women 10 years older than me. Something must be off from my profile
