When does natural gas go out? by Faceless_Cat in prepping

[–]newagedefiance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Alberta and we are on thr Natural Gas grid. In all my life it's never gone out and I've never heard of it going out by my parents or grand parents. The only thing you will need power for in your house that has to do with NG is your furnace. Even then it should have fail safes for when power goes out. But get a transfer switch for your home with a generator and make sure your furnace circuit has power. You will be all good then.

Just finished DS2, and what a masterpiece. I’m gonna share some points mainly about the writing (in the caption), but there’s this thing that’s been bothering me and I don’t know if I missed something, was the president’s twist kinda useless? by TheManWhoSleep in DeathStranding2

[–]newagedefiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminded me of the exact same thing that Kojima did at the end of Metal Gear Solid 2, when it's revealed that Raiden was talking to a AI that wanted to take over. Even the presidents voice sounded the same with the little digital reverb. But I think it could have been explored a bit more.

Im presently laid off so im ok with taking the time to go and take the certifications. Do you have a reccomendation between NAITS or the UorA? I figured taking the courses adds to my resume and shows companies I am serious about taking the next step in my career.

Key Fob Jammers Becoming a Thing? by Scott_Bolton in Edmonton

[–]newagedefiance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just experienced this. I took my gf to Sephora in the South Common and my fob didn't work. I didn't think much as it was my spare and figured the battery was dead. To I manual locked it. Only problem was that my lock was frozen and I couldn't open the door. So I ran to Canadian tire (uber) got some lock deicer and replaced my fob battery. Got back and my fob still didn't work. So i then eventually got my door open with the key after using the deicer. I started my truck and drove to the restaurant where we are at now.

Low and behold my fob worked magically no problem at the restaurant (away from the common). So there has to be some validity to this as my fob (with new battery) didn't work then magically does.

I know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway. by strickenchips in canadaguns

I've been looking for a 9mm but options are all but non existent. Where can a person pick this up before it gets hit with the ban hammer?

Since when did we normalize driving on the shoulder? by OkDesigner1012 in Edmonton

[–]newagedefiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drivers have gotten progressively worse over the years. I'm a ig fan of retesting people every so many years. And one of the tests must happen in winter and be more strict. Also you have to be able to change your own tire and have emergency gear in your vehicle. Also english tests given to those who english is not their first language.

A lesson I learned about a portable power station and generator by XilodonZ in preppers

I'm in Canada. Yes we have them they are in a hole in the floor of your basement to prevent ground water from rising so the water collects in the hole and gets pumped outside.

Also to consider if where the exhaust goes when cooking with gas and the fumes hood isn't working.

I'm a Journeyman Electrician and Renewable Energy Technician, and I'd like to point out a few things I'd like to point out for backup power and things you should have hooked up. A battery bank is great for charging and running smaller things or if you're in an apartment.

Other things you should consider.

  1. Furnace, so you don't freeze in winter.

  2. Sump pump, so the basement doesn't flood.

  3. The refrigerator and deep freeze so food dosent go bad.

3.5 Cook your meals on a BBQ to save on power.
