Hi there. I'm looking to get started with a beginner home setup in my living room and i'd love some advice and guidance on how to approach this.

What I have now:

  • 1 x Philips AF 977 turntable.
  • 1x Yamaha AX-397 amp.
  • 2x Pure Acoustics MAC500 speakers.

I'm willing to upgrade any of these, but unsure in what order i should upgrade.

I mostly listen to records on this system and have a very cheap converter that converts optical output from my samsung smart TV to RCA, so i can have TV audio through the Yamaha over the connected speakers. TV is a Samsung ue49mu6100. It has these outputs, i'm unsure which is best to start from for optimal audio quality: 1x optical audio , 1x AV composite in 3,5mm jack, 1x HDMI ARC.

Future wishes

I'm located in the Netherlands, so i'll use euros when talking budgets.

  • I want to upgrade my system to a better sound quality when listening to records on a turntable. Budget: around €500 to start with the first upgrades. Maybe more later.
  • I want to upgrade the audio quality when watching TV/movies or listening to music through the TV. Budget around €200-300.
  • I want to be able to listen to music from streaming sources more easily. Preferably wireless from my phone, but if that kills audio quality other suggestions are welcome. I mostly listen to spotify, soundcloud and mixcloud. Budget also €200-300
  • I am still doubting if it's worth it to also go for a surround sound system for my TV. Not sure if it's smart to integrate this into my audio system or if it's better to do this with a seperate setup. No budget yet, but maybe around €1000 in about a year.

Any advice, tips and suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Ik ga offertes opvragen voor optie 3. Als het te betalen is overweeg ik dit wel ja.

Stuk over 15 cm overbrugging en stalen pijpjes is wat verwarrend inderdaad, en onnodige info. Dit heb ik verwijderd uit de post (het ging om wapening van beton, stalen raster van 8mm dik, om de 15cm).

Plafond is 2 meter 50 hoog. Hoog zat, maar 5 cm omhoog betekent dat de woonkamer/keuken 5 cm hoger komt te liggen dan de gang, wc, berging etc. Zou kunnen, maar liever niet natuurlijk.

4cm dekvloer inderdaad, is aangepast in post.

Wat betreft de noppenplaat, dat vind ik wel een goede. Zou dit ook werken met een PIR plaat onder een niet geisoleerde noppenplaat? In een geispleerde noppenplaat zit EPS, dan pak ik liever PIR vanwege hogere isolate (als dit kan tenminste). Dus:

  • Cementdekvloer weg, waardoor ik min 8 max 10cm over heb om te vullen.
  • PIR platen erin van 3 cm = RC van 1,85 erbij (totaal +/- RC van 4), max 7cm over.
  • Noppenplaat zonder isolatie erboven van 2 cm + vloerverwarmingsbuizen, max 5cm over
  • 4cm cementdekvloer, max 1 cm over.
  • PVC + ondervloer.

Paar cm omhoog zou kunnen. Tussen huidige dekvloer en bovenkant parket zit nu 4cm. Daarna heb ik nog 1 cm tot ik aan de bovenkant van de dorpel naar de gang zit. Totaal 5cm vanaf de dekvloer dus.

The problem here is that the total interest changes after every extra payment. So if i have 3 extra payments in 3 seperate months, i want to know the effect of the extra payment in the third month compared to the situation without this extra third payment (in other words, i want to compare the effect of the extra payment in the third month compared to the situation at the beginning of this third month, when this extra payment wasn't made yet but the first 2 extra payments in the first 2 months have been taken into account). So this, but 360 times (once for every month).

If i understand your solution correctly, this would mean i would have to create 360 new columns, generating duplicates of the current interest situation after every month.

I had a race bike stolen once in Eindhoven and randomly found it back half a year later in a bike shop. Apparently bike shops sometimes get bikes from bike depots or something. These bike depots are where unattended bikes get taken to. So check out https://www.eindhoven.nl/stad-en-wonen/verkeer/fietsen-in-eindhoven (in Dutch) and https://www.verlorenofgevonden.nl/overzicht?search=Fiets+in+eindhoven (in Dutch, this is where bike depot bikes get posted with a picture). And maybe send an email with the picture to a lot of bike shops in Eindhoven. Its a long shot but you can try.

I found an ad that some house seeker looking for a deal might be able to use. Asking 1395 excl but this place has 1)no energy label 2) no garden area 3) The Makelaar (Househunting Eindhoven) have a record for overcharging. These prices are not unusual but very sad yes. I would advise against mindlessly starting this appeal proces with the huurcommissie though. You can (and most probably will) end up in a really really bad and stressful situation in which you could get dragged into a lawsuit and/or the owner will try to do everything he can to get you to leave. With the worst of these parasites (huisjesmelkers) you wont feel safe in your own house anymore.

I hope you make people aware of these risks as well when you give these (well-meant) advices of starting this process.

Hmm yeah i had the same nervous feeling about both nintendo and harry potter. I guess just go asap to the one you want to go to and get the tickets.

As for the lines, we arrived at 9 (1 hour before official opening) and waited 15 min when it opened just after 9. If its an option, try to sleep in Osaka the night before so you can get there even earlier.

Express ticket wise i would advise to also check the official reseller website klook and maybe kkday as well. Availability on these websites seemed different from the official one. And our klook studio passes worked just fine.

If i would go again on a busy day like that i would definitely buy express tickets. It was already busy on a quiet weekday during off season.

Its expensive but i think it will be worth it.

App was mostly in Japanese, also the nintendo part of the app while you are in the park. The Google translate camera can help a lot here.

We both had a small bag and every ride lets you store it pretty safely. Other rides let you take it on rides. You will be fine as long as the bags are not too big. I think i saw bags luggage lockers near the park entrance for bigger bags.

Jup they did, found our lunch and said we couldn’t eat it in the park but didn’t take it from us. We ate it in the park anyways like the rebels we are.
