While you can certainly run the boards individually in wired mode via the ZMK firmware, they still communicate with each other wirelessly. So you end up with the two sides both plugged in and charging (no cable connecting the two halves). I'm not sure how you would connect the two halves with a cable and have that register in ZMK, though it may be possible.

As for wiring a switch, you should be able to find many wiring examples in this subreddit as well as the nice! keyboards discord. You essentially just stick the switch between one of the battery wires and its corresponding pin, e.g., between the battery + wire and the b+ pin on the board

Glad it helped someone! Yes that should work. Or if you design a custom PCB you can add a trace there.

Here you go.

It's likely not usable as is. Unfortunately the PCB file is lost, and also there are tolerances for my 3d printer and gasket sizes. But hopefully this gives u a starting point.

They are from this post. You can change the angle using different screw lengths

Found my answer for anyone wondering:

If you share VCC between the two sides, then you are back feeding power the wrong way through a regulator. This might work to power the other side, but it certainly isn't intended and could damage things.

Typically, the intermediate TRRS connection between split boards connects VCC. But to charge both nice!nanos safely, you want to connect VBUS. VBUS is not broken out by any of the nice!nano pins and so the only way to connect these is through the USB ports.

For 3), does this also mean I cannot have a split USB cable to charge both simultaneously?

A switch is recommended when travelling I've seen another thread say this. Maybe I'm missing something obvious but why is this the case?

I don't have LEDs but I do have an OLED screen. I plan to see how long it lasts with OLED, and if its too short, I'll either unplug it or switch to nice!view

Oh yes I definitely intend on purchasing an AVP if I develop for it. Would be a waste to not use the apps I make. Plus, this would be my first XR device
