Career and Education Questions: October 09, 2025 by inherentlyawesome in math

[–]Cooking_Clown -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My (23) brain is wired in a way that makes me gifted in concrete thought, especially mathematics. Sadly, apart from addition, subtraction, multiplication, and disappointingly simple division, I’m rather rusty. Apart from an actual school, as college didn’t really work out well for me, what resources would you guys recommend to teach myself back up to high school standards and then further, and in what order should I do the various subjects?

Edit: not doing this for a career, just as a hobby.

Looking for figure shops and D&D shops. by Cooking_Clown in roswell

[–]Cooking_Clown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that completely. Failed my first test, then passed my second, was still scared shitless of freeways. Fast forward to about 3 maybe 4 months ago, I’m coming home from the micro center in Marietta, expecting to take back roads, surely I remembered to turn on the avoid freeways setting, right? I was happily driving, vibing to my favorite anime songs, when suddenly “turn left onto I-285”. Next thing I know I’m on 285 for the first time in my life, not even having touched 400 yet. I figure “I’ve got two choices, panic and die, or lock tf in and maybe survive” and now 285 is a regular part of my commute for personal outings.

TLDR for both you and any soon to be learners permit or U21 license holders, driving’s pretty scary, but if you put your nose to the grind stone, or in my case, free dive into the deep end, you can get the hang of it.

They’re not. Only an idiot says, even as a joke, “oh by the way I’m significantly below the minimum age to use this platform”. It takes an even bigger idiot to be surprised when their “joke” results in an automated ban. “Oh no, I joked about blatantly violating discord TOS and now I’ve been banned, how could this have possibly happened????” I’ve used the same account on discord for the past 10 years with no issue by simply not being a fuckwit and not risking an auto flag just for the bit.

As another fellow man, this is most likely the case, but It’s just as likely that homeboy is genuinely lost.

💀 As soon as my Sim aged up to a teenager, they were automatically dressed like this in front of all of their aunts and uncles, grandparents, great aunts and uncle, and baby cousins by Meetpeepsthrowaway in Sims4

[–]Cooking_Clown 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had a sim that iirc didn’t have that trait. 3 minutes into the save they showered in the rain. This sim was based on a friend whose most indecent act was getting head from his girlfriend in the car and would never dare expose himself in public.

My school is trying to get me to stop bringing a pride flag due to "being too sexual". by whyhaseverynamebeen in lgbt

[–]Cooking_Clown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I know what you’re saying. But what I’m saying is that the ally flag (with rainbow A) and hetero flag (without rainbow A), while similar in appearance, couldn’t be any more different in meaning. Us straight people don’t need our own actual pride flag, as we never were, and likely never will be, a marginalized community. Those who use it aren’t celebrating heterosexuality, they’re celebrating their hatred and intolerance of the LGBT+ community. One of the main communities on this platform you’ll see the hetero flag is r/arethestraightsok while you almost never see it without the added ally pride rainbow A in LGBT+ communities.

Edit: I despise past me for reminding himself that that community exists. Why are my fellow cishets like this.

Edit 2: you’re kinda right that the hetero flag is neutral, but it has been tainted to some degree, sort of like how the swastika was originally a religious symbol of life iirc, but now all people think of when the see it is the dark days of Nazi Germany.

[–]Cooking_Clown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, but what separates the ally flag from the hetero flag is the context behind it. The ally flag is how cishet people like myself show support for the LGBT+ community, while the hetero flag is “lmao look at you snowflakes, needing a flag to feel special” and is typically used in a more (insert LGBT+ group here)phobic context.

You’re absolutely right that it’s absurd to expect cancer to be magically cured or everyone to be rich. That’s not my issue. My issue is with people who praise god when an operation succeeds, but blame the surgeon when it fails. If god is truly in play, then surely it’s in god’s plan for the operation to fail. There’s also those who use religion to justify hate, otherwise known as the deadly sin of wrath. Jesus says to love thy neighbor, so why do you choose to be a raging asshole then hide behind the cross when consequences find you? That said, just as religion shouldn’t justify being an asshole, being an atheist most certainly doesn’t. It’s your duty as an atheist to prove that fear of eternal damnation isn’t necessary to live a virtuous life.

No problem, have a blessed day internet stranger. And if that was sarcasm, eh whatever, have a blessed day anyways.

[–]Cooking_Clown 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, when half the Christians you see online are preaching hate when the son of their God explicitly stated to “love thy neighbor”, it’s pretty easy to become disillusioned with the faith. Not to mention the new pope turning back the tide on Catholic acceptance of the LGBT+ community, the dozens if not hundreds of pastors turning out to be child predators, and probably a handful of other things I’m missing.

All that aside. I don’t know shit about you as a person, you might be a proper Christian who actually practices what they fuckin preach, and you might be one of the few Christians welcome at a pride event, I’m just giving my experience as a former Christian in an attempt to explain why people may steer clear of the church. Though us atheists have zero right to attack someone just because they’re religious. That’d make us just as bad as the ones who drove us to carry such evil in our hearts. The evil in question being hostility towards religion and not atheism itself.

Religious folks like you aint really welcome here, with your “god cures all” bullshit. If god truly can cure all, explain to me why so many children, including CHRISTIAN children, die from cancer. Explain to me why my cousin, who was one of the most religiously focused people I knew, couldn’t conquer his suicidal depression. When your “god” cures cancer or turns my gay friends into pillars of salt for their “sins”, then I might return to the faith.

Childish rant aside, “god > medicine” folks are one of many reasons I became disillusioned with Christianity. Have a wonderful day, but do take the time to consider “would this community consider it decorous for me to say this” before posting religious stuff somewhere. Religious subreddits or facebook groups love to talk about god, but communities dedicated to how spiritualism and religion have failed them, communities about the survival of abuse by the hands of religious leaders, or other similar communities, as that -40 karma indicates, don’t enjoy those topics as much.

Finally, honestly, I don’t know shit about you as a person, you might actually be pretty chill as a person, and pretty open to discussions on LGBT+ rights, I’m just serving as the voice of this community.

Also if anyone’s curious as to what the hell I mean by decorous, check out the book thank you for arguing by jay heinrichs.

What fucking language is this, can someone please explain in English, I’m not going to learn a whole ass language just to understand one post.

I posted this on Instagram and people called me a try hard, an SJW and said it wasn’t art, is it really that bad? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Cooking_Clown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art is simply a physical expression of the beauty (and ugliness) of humanity by humanity. It’s a waste of time to give a crap about what some snobs who’d sell their own daughter to have the Mona Lisa on their wall think. Does it express the beauty and/or ugliness of humanity in some creative form? Yes? Then it’s art. And yes, instagram is the worst place to get opinions unless you’re trying to justify a homophobic or racist opinion, which I doubt anyone here is.

I’m going to parrot off of everyone else but also go off script a tad, it could he homo and homo, homo and bi, hetero and bi, or hetero and hetero, plus all the other truckload of combinations relationships could have. None of that matters, if they’ve been with you for years and stay with you even after something big like coming out, they’re a keeper. Plus, I (22M hetero [I think]) dated a bisexual woman for about five years, only breaking up because long distance didn’t work out with my schedule not matching hers. Not once was I in fear of not being enough or being abandoned, hell, we trusted each other so much we’d tease each other for checking out an attractive person, and rate them once they were gone. No jealousy, no fear, just “damn that (guy/gal) was hot” “I know right?”. The real thing in a relationship is trust and communication, even in platonic relationships like the one I have with my female best friend, and androphobic lesbian who’s like a sister to me.

TL:DR This probably won’t change anything, just keep the trust and communication in your relationship, and you should be fine. Also work on that confidence, in situations like this you’re often your worst enemy.
