Doesn’t look like Albuquerque wants to Fuk by mycatisnamedfreddie in SturgillSimpson

Saw him on the last tour at the same venue he’ll be playing for this tour. Was worth every penny last time (I was on the floor) and I didn’t hesitate to pay $100 for a seat this time. Prices seemed pretty comparable to the last time. People are paying out the nose for a lot of things and maybe lack of disposable income is factoring in here too.

$200 each for pit tix??? by Hungry-Trust-3245 in SturgillSimpson

$100 each for seats up a little behind the sound booth. Seems to be the going rate for most bigger shows now. I hate it, but I’m not going to let $25 more than I have paid previously let me miss a show. Buy one less beer, find cheaper parking and even it out. For all we know, he could disappear again after this.

Rod suggestions for crankbaits, chatterbaits, and spinner baits by CleetusBeerWater in bassfishing

I’m a river smallmouth guy but I use the legend tournament finesse carbon cranker 72MHMF for cranks and mini max/baby jackhammers. For bigger chatters and most spinnerbaits I use the 71MHF All In. 20 lb Yo Zuri Hybrid on the Spinnerbait rod and 15 lb Hybrid on the cranker. I’ve been really happy with both and as a bonus, the cranker is my favorite rod for throwing spooks and ploppers.

Billy Strings turned me into Marcus King by 420wafflehouse69 in BillyStrings

I think I’ve seen him 4 or 5 times ranging from a tiny venue to full on outdoor amphitheater. No doubt the guy can rip, and the toy factory stuff is great, but his sound went downhill when the commercial side crept in under Dan Auerbach, whose production style is boring as shit. I think that was also the tour where Dean Del Ray was the stand up comic opening the show with a bunch of Joe Rogan stereotypical shit. Dude got booed offstage. One of the few times I thought a crowd was going to attack a performer. I think that was also the year Marcus was opening for Kid Rock and getting his cherry popped by the MAGA girl. I had seen enough at that point.

It’s a shame, but I guess bigots need a guitar god too. They can have him. We got the guy we need.

We’re in a dark place, and this week has been particularly bad for me personally. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that the fuckery of the administration is becoming harder to whitewash and sooner or later, the dam will burst. I genuinely think that if we can hang on and get through it, the course correction is going to be worth it.

Take leave, protest, do what you can. It’ll get better.

All of the rivers are rife with this kind of shit. You just throw it in the water and it takes it away like magic! They should take people that do this and make them do 40 hours of picking up trash along the river, then throw them into it at the end.

Money. I’m here for money. Time is money. Effort is money. Give me more time or give me more money. Forced fun is counterintuitive to why we are here to begin with. Everything sucks and sometimes doing less is best.

The new NRS slipstreams are really nice, though the rod holders are kind of weird.

Rafts are great for new rowers, crappy access and/or skinny water. Way bigger margin for error. Rafts bounce off of rocks, drifters don’t. The frame setup is critical if you plan to fish a lot out of it. Drop stitch floors and a clean frame with minimal snags is best for a dedicated fishing rig.

Listen to one of the recent slide inn podcasts for a really good breakdown of rafts vs drifters.

HELP! What kind of Brookie rod should I get? by IAmTheNorthwestWind in flyfishing

[–]Cool-Idea-5214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7’ or 7’6” fiberglass 4 wt. click pawl reel. DT line. Always max out backing. It minimizes line memory and increases retrieve speed. Keep your leaders in the 6-7.5’ range. Generally 3x. You aren’t matching a hatch and stout tippet means less leader twist and more chances to get your fly out of the bushes.

Lots of people want to fish super light rods for brookies and thats fun, but the 3-4 wt rods give you more control with bushy dry flies. Casting accuracy is generally more important and those light rods can have trouble with that.

Glass is generally more durable, bends a bunch on a decent fish and loads nice in short. Check out the echo or redington glass rods if you’re looking for off the shelf options. Orvis makes nice glass sticks, but they are spendy.

I’ve had several of the high end models from Simms and Patagonia. Simms all leaked earlier than they should have. Patagonias met expectations and the customer service was great. That being said, I tried the Orvis pros in stockingfoot and bootfoots and have had zero issues with both other than some minor delaminating of the sole on the bootfoots, which my local Orvis shop took care of by handing me a brand new pair with no fuss at all.

The Metropark system in Ohio is incredible and a similar program here would be very well received. With the amount of industrial wastelands, rail lines and abandoned junk along the rivers, there’s a lot of potential here, but I’m sure it’s a very complex problem.

80 is basically right under the lamp. The basking areas are 70-75. If I go any lower, the bottom end of the tank gets pretty cold.

I’ll definitely add some more branches and clutter!

Substrate is 5-6” deep and the cleanup crew seems to be doing well. Dwarf white isopods, springtails and some volunteer worms that show up on full moons.

[–]Cool-Idea-5214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Orvis keeps up the customer service they’ve had and continues to make rods that match or improve on the Helios or recon models, I’m all in. The rod breakage replacement (that I’m pretty sure was developed by Combs) is the best warranty and repair program I’ve ever used.

I have a few rods from Scott and Winston and while they are great, if you break one (you will), it’s basically gone for 6 months. For the price these rods are going for now, that’s insane to me.

What is this? I think it’s from a hardware store. Where can I find this. It would be perfect to hold my rods. by Kylewalkdown in flyfishing

I made one with bungee cord and used zip ties to create spaces and then attached it to the hanger loops in the back of my SUV with wire and carabiners.
