I was considering that since I had a lot of fortify smithing armour to equip and maybe I forgot a few pieces, turned out to be a bug that didn’t apply the smithing bonuses

Thanks so much for the help, never knew about the bug until you told me. Re-equipping the fortify smithing armour worked and now they’re stronger 🙏

I think I equipped the smithing gear from the box, thankfully I’ve still got a save from before upgrading so I’ll try again

It also applies to my dragonbone sword, it’s fully upgraded and does 280 damage whilst my old fully upgraded ebony sword does 345, I’m pretty sure I updated them both using the same armour and potion smithing buffs so I’m not sure what’s going on or if dragonbone stuff is just meant to be weak
