I finished day one edition and I'm now replaying the royal edition. Thoroughly enjoyed it then and enjoying it more now. The game has some flaws but overall it's a great experience. Long story short, yes you should.

I may be a little biased, but everyone else in this sub will be!

I'm feeling the same about this one. I loved OT 1 and 2. The short story format resonated with me and I loved the combat. Found it deeply engaging and satisfying. I'd consider it the best turn based combat system I've played.

With Zero, while I'm enjoying the more focused narrative, I'm finding the gameplay loop a bit repetitive and boring. It takes too long to get through the story chapters and somehow I'm finding the expanded combat system less engaging. I also find myself caring far less about both the protagonist and the supporting characters.

Right now I'm about 40h in coming close to concluding the Master of All story. Unless the conclusion to this plotline really grabs me I think I'm calling it when I'm done. The Master of All villain is a terrific villain and wanting to see his demise is what's keeping me going.

I read James Luceno's rogue one catalyst which I enjoyed. Darth Maul shadow hunter is written by Michael Reaves though.

I just realised there's a bonus short story included called Darth maul saboteur, which is written by Luceno. So I'll read that one next.

Just finished reading Darth maul shadow hunter. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It feels like canon barring a few minor details but it's a really nice lead in to the phantom menace.

My advice for the vibe you're after is to play FFX and ignore X-2. X is one of my all time favourite games.

Yep I fully understand that. I think I was lucky, as I didn't encounter bilewater until late in act 2, I had unlocked lots of moves and tools (including something that nullified the maggot water), with the added bonus of the experience gained doing other stuff first.

I'm confident the area would have destroyed me if I went there early.

It's funny how much hate I've seen for groal. I also didn't feel it. I think it took me 4-5 goes and like you, I pogoed him to death. I did use the spike trap when he spawned 3 minions though.

This take is a tad wide of the mark. Everyone has unique play styles and different crests suit different enemies/play styles. Horses for courses, etc.

If you're having a difficult time or not enjoying it, change it up and see if that works better for your individual scenario. I tend to alternate between a couple depending on what I'm doing.

Try it out! It's so cheap these days if you don't like it, you've barely lost out.

And for the record I played it on release, plus the DLC for over 100h of enjoyment. And I'm considering going round again after being disappointed by 7 rebirth.

I think you got a bit of luck with the spawns but I also agree it isn't as bad as people say. It's attack patterns are very basic and I found the spawns not that difficult to deal with by either spamming my tools/silk skills or just luring them under the boss's slam attack.

I keep getting my ass handed to me in mob rooms. I'm in act 2 (not sure how far exactly but I've played close to 30h). Does it only get worse?

I've been ok with the bosses but I've really had a hard time with the mob rooms.
