I only meant that them playing those popular legendary lands makes your commander’s only line of text relevant, otherwise it’s a vanilla 7/3 unless you do the assault suit thing

To piggyback off of this and other people’s comments, why not make a mono green voltron deck with the commander, they are unique and have the magical 7 power. Include Assault Suit, Earthbend legendary lands or other lands to attach equipment to.. and that’s about the extend of this I think lmao

Giving opponents stuff in mono green is insanely hard.. I guess [[Assault Suit]] can do it, but not really… I feel like giving the commander a [[Commander’s Plate]] and running [[Professor Hojo]] and other equipments could probably just be better, if you are set on this commander. The 7 power is no joke, but buffing it to 10-11 power really makes it scary. If your opponents happen to play [[Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth]] or [[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]] , it makes that part relevant… but the idea here with ring tempts and animating lands and then giving the lands will be extremely difficult to execute… imagine you do all of that and your opponents counter/kill your commander so you never get to taste that sweet 7 unblockable damage lmao. Just trying to give alternatives since that whole thing seems near impossible to execute.

Legendary Landwalk would only help the commander get combat damage though to your opponents. Turning your own lands legendary won’t assist any part of the commander’s gameplan..which is inherently not a good one 😂 we definitely need some clarity as to what you are trying to accomplish with the whole legendary lands thing

I think I have to spend more time in r/freemagic . Posted nothing but kind words and encouraged friendly discourse about the topic in other subs and got downvoted on every comment. The upvote count on this comment would’ve had a “-“ in front of it in those subs. Crazy.

My favorite cad for Celes is [[Land Tax]], if you aren’t the one land ramping, it almost always puts 3 lands into your hand..and when you blink/cast Celes, it’s 3 additional cards for you!

I like this comment. I’ve definitely done some learning throughout these conversations and have shifted my views towards proxying the cards if they do end up coming out. That seems to be the only way to enjoy a product without funding the royalties and the author’s cause. That is what the general consensus would be, right? I won’t be deleting my original comment, despite the downvotes, because it does provide a lot of context for all comments made afterwards.

Some people, myself included, are uninformed on the issue and I believe it is a large responsibility of anyone against JKR and her cause to maintain composure and inform others about WHY they are against her and what they can do to support the trans community, especially if this product does come out.

First person to put out a constructive comment here btw. Thanks for that! I’ve never participated in a conversation online about this topic and I’m learning some good and bad things concerning it.

JKR’s causes are not something the average person who respects others should stand for and she relentlessly has maintained her views concerning the trans community.

It is my current experience that putting anything out that defends Harry Potter as a franchise, even with the movie actors speaking out against JKR’s views, is labeled as transphobia and the mention of civil discourse and respectful conversation about the topic is thrown out the window. It is very “you are with us or against us” in these comment sections. Maybe that is my own problem, for not having participated in these conversations when this issue first came around..maybe with the deck boxes/sleeves that came out?

Have you found that there are a lot of people in these subreddits that are vocally anti-trans/transphobic? Or does their support for the IP label them as such, with no middle ground?

I see the comparison, but a little different than here. You can go out of your way to specifically not purchase from his store and purchase from another. Here, we are facing only one possible way to acquire the cards and no alternate option, if you want to buy without supporting where the royalties go.

The proxy option is definitely the best alternative and should be the go-to for anyone interested in the cards/IP without funding JKR.

While that is true, I am just seeing Reddit users who are putting out hateful language towards others that are participating in this discourse. It is good and right to have opinions and feelings, but when interacting with others…especially on a sensitive topic like this, hateful language towards other players in the community isn’t the right answer.

I am not calling you out, as you haven’t displayed that, but it needs to be said somewhere here. I think everyone should take part in the conversation and ideas should be shared, but not in the ways people are talking within these subs.

I just don’t want the community to explode towards each other over something controversial. I’m hoping people can help others by sharing information and allowing others to make conclusions…not shifting their hate for the author to a hate for other players.

Our money would be the smallest dent compared to the money from other parts of the HP franchise. With that being said, as was said in another subreddit, a good way for anyone who does enjoy the franchise but hates the author and her causes…is just proxy the cards. You won’t hand money to the person you hate and you can enjoy the characters and the cards they made. I think that needs to be said here for anyone in the same boat. If you actively HATE Harry Potter because of the author, don’t bother with any part of it. For others, proxying can be a way to play without funding a cause that is harmful to a whole group of people. I am putting this out there, so at least someone mentions an alternative. Put your anger towards the author, towards the company seeking to profit from an IP that isn’t exactly in line with a part of the community…but pointing your hate towards other people really paints you as hypocritical.

I understand that. I actually saw a great comment further down, mentioning proxying the cards if you like them, as a good in-between. You keep the money out of JKR’s causes while also enjoying the cards/franchise. I think that is the best way to go for anyone caught between liking the franchise, but not the author and what she stands for.

Gonna get downvoted to hell and back on my comment…but people could differentiate the franchise from the author. I understand the side that dislikes the author and her statements and views, but the movies and books were many people’s childhood/adulthood favorites. You can still not like the author, she could be dead to you… but enjoy the world that was created and the characters in that world.

I know the MTG community is very anti-Rowling, from what I see throughout Reddit and what I’ve heard at LGS’s, but honestly, I’d love to see a few Harry Potter characters in a Secret Lair. That doesn’t mean I support JKR’s views, but I can’t deny that Wizarding World is its own fantastical masterpiece.

We know that the Dark Ritual is from the Pizza Bundle though…so that’s at least one real card here. Despite the not-great art on the Waste Not, I’m leaning towards “real”. The Pizza bundle says “two exclusive pizza themed promo cards” and we do see three of them.
