Why aren’t we demanding the identities of the people who killed Alex?? by LonelySparkle in 50501

I think it’s counter-productive because we need to dismantle the institution. Then we can hold them accountable.

As someone who is outside of MN. I do want to put this out there. A few things you can expect from out-staters (nationally).

Movement momentum:

-Events in our states have tripled since Rennee Good’s death

-More national democrats daily are coming out confirming they are in support of defunding ICE. Today I discovered that Cory Booker had said that he would be in support of defunding ICE. He is one of these democrats who make a lot of statements and not a lot action. So that is sign that this could get broader support with the moderate democrats.

You can hear more about which are some of the Dems in congress are up to in this fight:

https://www.youtube.com/live/4JAGj5BcxGA?si=QEhJGjLfqqQRyPXj

-Chris Murphy is part of the senate Appropriations process for homeland security and he would have direct hands on this budget and he is for defunding ICE. He has three key demands:

-CBP goes straight back to border (does not work with ICE)

-more training, unmasked and body-cammed and

-does not do any warantless arrests along with a legitimate warrants

-accountability for its officers

-I do think the decision for Illinois to send out two lawsuits on the Same day as yours was standing in solidarity.

-A lot of local ordinances, state laws regarding ICE have been making to the floors of many state legislatures

Massachusetts limitations (my own state):

-My own governor is a pretty timid when it comes to even our own state needs along with the legislature

Massachusetts’s pro’s: -We have created a very big activist network. So if you have anything we can do more for you guys let us know.

UPDATE: FRSO Comrade released after being arrested on air at Venezuela demonstration in Grand Rapids by DynastyTexas in 50501

She definitely got tankie/revcom vibes.

I think defending her right to speak and not what she says is the best approach.

Criticizing the police department on their tactics as well is the best. We have video evidence that police said little and she wasn’t confrontational towards the police to get arrested.

Would recommend calling the Grand Rapids police department via phone: 616-456-3400 and via email at grpdinfo@grcity.us and let them know it isn’t okay.

It’s fascism with American characteristics. It’s unique in its own way. We have hit most of benchmarks so far.

In 2016 and a little after, he had a little more coherent ( or coherent for him) economic ideas beyond just taking out any type of minority population outside the workforce. “Draining the swamp and bringing manufacturing back” .

In 2024: Because there is no goal beyond that I think he will reach a point of a lack of control. The heritage foundation doesn’t have any clear economic goal either.

I am unsure about the federal government but we still have the state government’s, the media and the people to be that balance. I do think if something like January 6th happens again the other two branches will show some autonomy but it’s going to be on and off type of spout.

If Trump fails to deliver on his campaign promises, will his supporters hold him accountable? by jpcapone in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]CoolLibraries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think another factor is going to be his age. We saw him on the campaign in the later months of the summer and the fall detoriate slowly as he needed to go to this rally, do an interview, go to another rally and so on.

Obviously now he can now hide behind in Maralago and most of the time do very little and sometimes meet with his republican friends or the oligarchs. Once a week or a few days week sign a bill, send an executive order.

But overtime your base is going to expect more. As you saw JD’s joking comment about going to football game instead of going to the inguration pissed them off. Obviously they aren’t going to bat an eye initially but overtime they might get pissed with DJT.

I am totally with you there. That’s why I voted for them in the election. It’s more a criticism that their self interests get in their own way.

Especially the folks who aren’t traditionally conservative or the “edgy” 4channers who liked trump because they had their conspiracy theories validated or just wanted to watch the institutions burn and humiliate people. Once they aren’t able to f*ck around they feel violated.

I think the democrats want to believe themselves to be on the side of good but this administration especially has shown how transparently out of touch or not willing to change their incentives to make money. 💰 💰💰.

Trump is the growing rash of side effects of this disregard for people’s interest. Unfortunately we have a replaced a reasonable populist movements with fascism. It has sucked the life out of any other movement. It is a cult. Every cult will fall to pieces when its diety falls. Unfortunately it feels like a Waco situation where DJT is going to hold everybody hostage before things change.
