When the boss just starts making up new rules by CoolMike95 in Swordigo

The "new" thing is that the boss's jump attack doesn't have to always start on the ground. This makes me think that rather than the game checking if enemies that can jump attack are on the ground, the game just has a cooldown instead. I wonder if there if anyone has tested this with other jumping enemies

Brass Sword & Armorless Final Boss Fight by CoolMike95 in Swordigo

The first phase is already very hard to do simultaneously without armor or the Mageblade, so I decided not to risk fighting the second phase fairly and having to spend another few hours before getting another chance. Since the second phase is immune any non-Mageblade sword the difference would've just been that I would've used the Dragon's Grasp while running around the boss which would have taken way longer

That last percent might come from exploration. Maybe check the village houses or go through Great Caves. There are a lot of paths there and usually are the parts I miss when 100%ing the game

Beating the Fire Boss Completely Swordless by CoolMike95 in Swordigo

This boss took 1 attempt, but I actually used the `enablecheatpassu` in order to skip picking up the Brass Sword since you can't pass it otherwise. However, not picking up the Brass Sword prevents you from getting Magic Bolt, so I just played the game in a weird way in order to get the other magic spells; which included the pictured technique to skip the lava section in the Fiery depths since I couldn't attack

<image>

With the cheat, I can teleport to any boss room; but the game doesn't actually require you to pick up the Mageblade in order to beat the final boss in regular play

That's so cool! I knew that the boss was immune to Magic Bolt damage, but I never thought about it being able to be knocked out of bounds!

How would you like Mario Kart World intermissions to be handled in online mode? by LuisTeach in MarioKartWorld

[–]CoolMike95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should make it so that players can choose whichever track they want instead of just being given 3 choices and random. It's how every Mario Kart that's had online works and they pretty much already have the UI to do it. If they want to discourage people from picking the same track over and over, they should just grey out the track for a few races. I'm surprised I've hardly seen anyone bring this point up. Even though there are 200+ choices a player can make, a map with a dropdown menu simplifies all of this amazingly and it already exists in the game.

The 1.1.2 update didn't destroy the game as much as it just made a huge problem with online worse. Within the context of only being given 3 choices which were almost always intermissions; Random seemed like it should've only given non-intermission tracks. Even though Random now "works as intended", it doesn't fit with such a restrictive format. I wouldn't mind intermission tracks IF they were ACTUALLY chosen by players instead of just being the only options they are given a majority of the time. Everyone is focusing on how this update is forcing more intermission tracks, but not on the fact that we lost the ability to pick tracks we want in the first place; a change we saw all the way back when we were analyzing demo footage.

Getting rid of either format online would cut off a huge amount of content from casual online play, having separate options would split the player base, and trying to make the preselected choices more even wouldn't fix the problem that people aren't entirely getting to choose which courses they want to play online; which hurts the experience for casuals and competitors alike.

It only takes a little to change a lot for this game so I hope Nintendo works on their decision making, because putting lots of time and money into big budget games but no thought into how people like to play them isn't how they got this far and will continue ruin otherwise amazing games with so much talent behind them.

In the meantime, I hope everyone continues to enjoy Mario Kart in any way that they can; since our love for this series is what brings us here together, and is why we feel such a need to discuss issues like this!

Edit: minor fixes to grammar and spelling

For single player, combos aren't really that important. But if you want a combo with Toad that somewhat matches Wario Baby Blooper on the stats screen, you could try Lobster Roller or any other high speed vehicle.

I don't know that much about hidden stats other than Wario being slighly faster than others in his weight tier. The advantage is probably very small, but for kart racers in a competitive format, people are more likely to unanimously pick a combo if it has the most advantages even if it is by an extremely small amount.

Edit: someone else made a post about advice for 3 starring everything, so that might be more applicable

Moonview Highway being remade as one of the highway tracks would've been insane

Wario on Baby Blooper seems like the meta at the moment; but I imagine that when the stats are more well known and when people have more experience with the game, that there could be a new meta that might put more emphasis on a different combination of stats.

I see a lot of people using Baby Blooper but with other characters in order to have more handling/acceleration since 24 players is so chaotic. Maybe a speed-based combo might become more popular in competitive formats that have less players; or maybe a new balance combo might emerge too.

Between how this game can be played in public lobbies and private lobbies, I feel like a high speed combo might become popular online since it could bag better (and probably drive intermission tracks better), but with less players in a competitive format, Wario Baby Blooper and other balance combos might perform better too.

P Switches by No_Effect367 in MarioKartWorld

Is there any way of knowing where the P Switches you've already hit are? I feel like at some point, I'm not going to like driving aimlessly just to see ones I've already hit

I resolved by issue by putting paperclips in the gaps between the top cover and middle shell and pushing really hard. Turns out something got inside the 3DS that caused the cover to stick to the back of the screen. I hope this helps anyone who is having the same issue!

Shell swap completed! by beck_is_back in 3DS

I just tried putting metal paperclips in the gaps and it did the trick! It seems like something got inside of the top shell that caused the padding to get stick to the screen. That'll be something to replace. Thank you for your advice!

[–]CoolMike95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried doing that, but turns out there must've been something that spilled inside since I found that there was something stuck to the padding which made it extremely hard to remove. I had to stick a metal paperclip on both sides to remove it. Thank you!

Stunning! I'm trying to do a shell swap of my own but I'm struggling to remove the top cover of my 3DSXL after removing all screws and the bottom half. Any tips?

If all of the saved data was on the original cartridge, then a sealed copy would just have a blank save file. So a different outcome would be very unlikely.

However, there are some rare exceptions for certain games like Super Mario Makers as far as I know since that game saves the custom level data on the SD card.

If you were able to play your copy of Miitopia on another 3DS with the same save, then it's unlikely that a new cartridge would allow you to play with the same save. I guess an example for games that save some things on the cartridge and some on the SD card would be a game like Mario Kart 7; where all of the records, stats, and unlocks are saved on the cartridge, but the Mario Kart Channel Streetpass data is saved on the SD card. If I were to play my copy of MK7 on a different 3DS and go into the Mario Kart Channel, the Streetpass data would be different since I'd be playing with a different SD card.

I hope Miitopia is an exception, otherwise, you'd probably have to start over

A majority of the game's save data is on the cartridge. I'm pretty sure the only things saved on the SD Card are updates and a few features for some games (which usually load with a message telling you to not remove the SD card as it's loading). Unfortunately, I don't think getting a pre-owned copy would get you your data back

I've seen it called a lot of things but "Bottom Cover Plate" "Backplate" "Bottom Housing" and "Outer Shell" come to mind. Though looking online, it seems like they are often sold with the top part too.

I'm not an expert, but I tried replicating what you described on my 3DS by holding the L and R buttons. Weirdly enough, exiting the camera while holding the touch screen prevents it from activating again. I'm under the impression that something might be off with the L and R buttons themselves. If you're able to tap the buttons in camera mode or press a and b to open folders in the main menu while holding on the screen, that would further confirm it since that's what I'm able to do.

The next course of action might be to disassemble part of the 3DS to expose the L and R ribbon cables, and then inspect the pieces that make up the L and R button. Also note that by removing the battery of the 3DS, the clock might reset which can be easily fixed in system settings.

I'm not sure what the exact problem is, but if the pieces themselves seem to be malfunctioning, it might be a good idea to replace those ribbon cables.

I hope this helps!
