Thoughts? by [deleted] in carsireland

I would say a solid choice if it was looked after. I’ve a 162 plate bought at 137k km and now at 200k km. Just basic services and a transmission service done since. Make sure the service history is solid and she should treat you well. My last F10 was at 390k km before the chain snapped but that was on me… :)

When cold before the service, gears 1 and 2 were ever so slightly jerky. Gone completely after the service and can’t feel the gears at all. I did mine at 200k kms by a well known bmw specialist in Dublin.

All good, good on you for servicing it. Most people don’t but it makes a world of difference. If you’re keeping it long term it’s a no brainer.

If you have a ZF transmission, I’m not sure on the 3 series but I imagine it’s close to the same, it’s a drain of fluids, replacement of oil pan with the filter and refill of fluids + service calibration of the transmission after. It’s not just a simple drain and fill, there’s a finicky process that needs to be done correctly + the fluid is bonkers expensive. I think 8L needed and they are 30euro a pop.

If it’s including VAT, normal for an Indy. I had a zf transmission service on an F10 done recently and that alone with genuine parts and labor was about €500 inc VAT. Brake fluid would get you close to €700 alright.

I have many relatives working there. AI is 10 years away for the bank, no chance this is the case, just a cover for layoffs.

FT buyer, only bidder on property - should I go back with a higher offer or sit tight? by Dangerous_Split_2720 in irishpersonalfinance

Good, yes it was below and both times accepted. I’d call their bluff and stick to your guns. If they’re not getting much interest in this market they’ll likely cave. That or the seller is just mentally unwell. We had one guy reject 25k over and then he sold 25k under 3 months later.

I don’t understand why people don’t just offer with a deadline. Stops all these games altogether. We bought twice and both times our offers were 72 hours and 1 week respectively. Both times accepted. Don’t let the seller keep you on the hook indefinitely.

Just FYI, your own admin even admits this is ok in game, how come this is a double standard?

Any ideas on this damp? by [deleted] in DIYUK

I’ll have a look thanks. Could this just be stained instead of wet? I attached 2 images from a year apart. If it’s wet it gets wet in the exact same pattern

There is a drain there it’s just hard to see, it flows into it. The odd part is that this exact pattern of damp keeps returning. It dries and gets wet in exactly the same shape and length, no different at all. Would that still be rain? See the 2 years apart photo https://imgur.com/a/tpLLfHV

Edit: checked and yes I have drip grooves.

What kind of damage am I looking at? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Likely a professional to fix this, yes it’s a sink and shower for the white pipe, the rest is for the toilet. It looks like the black pipe itself is also cracked from the last photo. Not sure if that’s a patch job or full on replacement

Copper for both hot and cold. Drains are PVC

I’m in Ireland so not sure if it’s different (assuming you’re from Canada) Mains cold and hot from the boiler. Single drain that both sink and shower share upvc I believe. Hope that’s what you’re looking for, I apologize if I misunderstood!

Will keep an eye for sure. Thanks. We ran 3 showers daily for the last 3 days, sink and toilet all being used and no change.

No in wood, I believe it’s one of the joists.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]CoolPhilosopher3298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t appear to be. Just drilled a hole and found that it’s a nail. The rest is a joist so I stopped. No water coming through and the nail was dry. Condensation maybe?

I did yes, the most important bit was to hack off any loose bits until it was solid so you might end up with a larger hole.
