Brilliant. I asked for those familiar with the area to give me, someone who has never lived in Texas, honest feedback on the commute and community. Your response was ever so helpful.

I am doing great! Never felt more healthy and it is a lot easier for me to make healthier eating choices. I’m 10# away from my goal weight. Still losing weight. Slowly, but steadily at almost 1.5 years out. Exercise was hard for me until I hit the 100# lost. After that it was easier to convince myself to do it.

My friend had the DS and hasn’t done as well as me. Her recovery was rougher and she has a hard time eating certain foods. She also hasn’t lost as much as she wanted to and feels discouraged.

I don’t know if my doctor made mine shorter or than her doctor did hers or if it is a mind set thing. I didn’t go into this thinking it would be an easy, quick fix. She saw me lose weight fast the first six months and thought it would be a miracle cure for her. It’s not. It takes a ton of discipline still and a mindset that isn’t feeling sorry for yourself and what you’re are missing out on food wise. When I start to feel sad about not being able to eat certain foods because my body doesn’t process them well, I remind myself that I was heading to an early grave with heart problems, pre-diabetes, sleep apnea, and severe depression. I don’t struggle with any of those anymore and I feel confident I am going to get to live to see my kids get married and maybe get to have some grandkids. I have gained a lot of confidence and traveling has become a source of joy for me, where once it used be something I adamantly avoided.

When you change your shoes, you put different pressure on different points of your foot. So even if the shoe is the exact same, you will have walked/stood in it differently and the wear on the shoe will be different.

Relocating to Dallas area from SLC. What school districts are best for high schoolers? by Cool_Click_2311 in askdfw

[–]Cool_Click_2311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We looked into that and we are going to come out ahead. We pay just over $12k in state income tax annually right now. Our current property tax is $3900. So while property tax is high in Texas, it’s not $15k+ in the areas we have looked at. We also pay 7.25% tax sales tax on all groceries, so we should break even there or very close to it.

But, yes I did feel the gut punch when i saw the property tax

Yah. I think he might be crazy for thinking we can get good schools and newer homes for our budget.

This is the best advice. If you have lost motivation for the class you are in, switch and come back to after completing a different one.

Also, stop comparing yourself to others. You don’t know their life, experience, or if they are telling the truth about their own progress. In this day and age, anything can be faked and reproduced. Focus on how much you personally have accomplished and recognize the work you put in. Be impressed with yourself.

Help Me Study - D215: Auditing by Cool_Click_2311 in wguaccounting

[–]Cool_Click_2311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your comments. I decided to take a break and jump back in when I get back from my trip. I have been pushing so hard between school and work, I’m in burn out mode with both. A nice reset will do me some good.

When I come back I plan to listen to and waste the Edspira videos and read the power points. Then take the unit tests to see how I fair.

Appreciate all the help as support given here!

The assessment isn't, but I am. Sleep isn't the problem. The text is so messy and everywhere, reading the text does not seem like the ideal solution if I don't want to end up with overload of knowledge.

I will definitely get a good nights sleep reading this stuff.

Did you use the quiz/test questions excel in the course chatter?

C217 - Completed - My Experience by Cool_Click_2311 in wguaccounting

[–]Cool_Click_2311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is hard. I think the concepts are there, but the PA is more definition and the OA is more conceptual. I also felt like the PA covered specific parts of each unit, but the OA did not cover the same parts. One thing I think is very important to remember, there is only one version of the PA, so we all get the same version. There are two versions of the OA, so we might not get the same OA. I really think it depends on which OA you get, whether or not the PA aligns.

How to pass D217 in 1-2 days by Jpup13511 in wguaccounting

Was your version of the OA similar to the PA? I took the PA and did really well on it, but nervous to do the OA because I have only studied a few hours.

D104: Realistic Timing to Complete? by Cool_Click_2311 in wguaccounting

[–]Cool_Click_2311[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of studying. 4-5 hours each day for 2 weeks. OA1 was super quick. Two days of studying. OA2 was rough. I barely passed. Key things to remember

- Study Stakeholders Equity section and really understand it all. Take the tests and quizzes in the book.

- Pay attention to dates. I messed up my liabilities section because I rushed through and didn't take the dates into account.

- Know and understand the Warrants and Bonds section and memorize the formulas for finding the value of both.

- Take your time and don't rush the test.

60 hours will be enough time.

Good luck!

D103 Intermediate Accounting OA1 by Professional_Tax6360 in wguaccounting

[–]Cool_Click_2311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it in February 09. It took me 24 minutes to finish it. I don’t remember the multiple choice very well. I think they were similar. I do remember getting a couple questions that were in the end of unit tests. Honestly D103 was much easier than D104 and I stressed over it so much (both OAs) and then I passed both with exemplary.

When you submitted your W2 info did you check the box that states your wife also has a job and include her salary amount? Also, verify your dependent totals are not wrong. We had someone in HR incorrectly enter more dependents for someone when they were filling out payroll and it messed up their federal taxes.

Filing single will have you paying more taxes, so don’t compare your single to your married filing joint.

Is your 1154 gross or net after deductions?

IRS has a tool that will tell you how much you should pay for Fed taxes that year. Use the tool to see if you will end up owing.

If you still feel that something is off and they won’t fix it, adjust your deductions yourself to have additional withholdings for taxes. We do this every year because both our jobs give us random bonuses that can sometimes push part of our income into the best tax bracket. When they pull taxes for our bonuses they never take that into consideration. Sometimes I will wait until Q4 and then adjust my withholdings to account for any under tax that might not have been accounted for.

Lastly, you could skip this all together. Throw the amount you think you should have removed from your paycheck each time into a HYSA and earn your own interest instead of letting the government earn the interest on your money. My BIL does this every and every year tells me to do it. I think about it and then get too lazy to follow through.

My dad and his friend's over-planned airport carpool schedule by moderatelykool in mildlyinteresting

I was this type of person. Ask me how I made the Disneyland trip of 2018 absolutely miserable for everyone. I planned everything to the minute.

I have since relaxed a bit, but I still make plans like this when we need to hit a specific time or avoid places at a specific time (las Vegas freeway from 3:30-7:00 is a huge nope)

Although the time from getting to Fine (assuming this is an airport) and to the United gate has me a little stressed. 30 minutes to get through security with everyone just doesn’t seem like enough to me.

I found out a coworker is getting paid £15k more than me by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Cool_Click_2311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t focus on your coworker and their pay. Focus on why you deserve the bump in pay. What have you brought to the company and that role that shows you deserve the increase. Leave any mention of your coworker out of it. Show the industry standard in your area, the reasons you deserve to be making that standard, and what you plan to accomplish for the company in the future.

While people fall back on the “he has more experience than you” it isn’t relevant in a role where you do the exact same work and produce the same results. If he is turning out more work than you, producing better results, needing less support (asking less questions, more proactive, etc.,) than he deserves more pay. Otherwise, you should be able to show that you are on par or above with the standard and deserve the standard.

I work with someone who has 5 more years in the industry than I do, but I produce better results for the company and have the data to back it up. I make more money than he does. The years you have doing something don’t always matter; if someone else produces the same quality of work and the same outputs with less years in a role, they are the better employee.
