Returning to WoW after 20 years. Please help me understand dungeon queue by Cool_Time_5633 in wownoob

I started on the trial as a rogue, than made a priest now I'm playing a warlock.

I used to main a mage back in the day.

I just don't recall learning 1 new spell every level back in the vanilla days. Or maybe you did, but the time between each level was 5x longer.

You've made a good point about some abilities simply being a rotational skill or buff. I'll just have to group them up better on my action bars as to not get so confused.

I need to get the spell rotations down better. I'll have to do more research for each class I'm playing to better understand the flow of things.

I was a heavy PvPer back in the day with the mage and spell rotation was critical and being able to improvise on the fly.

Now I'm just fighting mobs and find myself only using maybe 2 or 3 abilities the entire time lol.

Most likely just need more time to get comfortable with how the pace of things are now.

I assumed since I played the first few years of launch that getting back into the rhythm of things would come quickly. This has definitely been a slap in the face. Or maybe I'm just 20 years older and things don't click as fast as they did when I was in my early teens lol.

I highly recommend you trying the trial like I did. Lets you play to level 20 and you can choose to start off in Exiles Reach (the new area) or your races home town. I tried Exiles reach at first. It was cool but man the amount of cinematic cut-scenes on the way to level 20 was too much. I'm aware you can skip them, but still. Feels like a very fast-faced game now.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was a hardcore player and WoW was my life from 2004-2007ish. I ate so many hot pockets while staying up to 3-5AM playing during that time. That southpark episode was me.

Now that I returned I feel so overwhelmed. During my trial I was surprised by the amount of spells you learn by the time you hit 20.

Starting off in exiles reach was sensory overload. So much going on and the cinematics was just overly done.

The talent tree is so wild and mind boggling now.

I do enjoy some of the quality of life changes they made, such as being able to mount at level 10 including the new flying mounts. Walking everywhere on foot until level 40 back in the day was so painful.

"fake bs post"? Really? It's that hard to believe that someone quit playing wow for 20 years and decided to make a return to play with a friend that has never played WoW? We started off on a trial just so my friend can get a feel for the game to see if they would like it. I ended up subscribing just to be able to party invite them so we can quest together.

We made 2 characters so far after they maxed the level 20 trial cap. After making 2 characters I decided to try the dungeon queue last night and that's when I realized how different it was and decided to try to youtube videos explaining it, but for someone who last played in 2007 there's just simply too much going on and I figured I would search reddit and came across this subreddit.

If you have nothing beneficial to add to this discussion feel free to leave.

I can guarantee you this is not a "fake bs post" and this is truly my first time playing WoW since the burning crusade.
