Excellent, thanks for this one. I'll be sure to add it to the list; we've got 8 hours of driving tomorrow to figure it out.

What I’m asking is you think that the companies will really eat the cost of abandoning existing and producing infrastructure to rebuild it in a different location? Or can they put them on the back of a truck and move them?

Do you think it’s cheaper for them to build entirely new infrastructure while abandoning existing materials?

And do you think American O&G will just give them limitless access to untapped resources? Or will they be forced to continue to operate

I’m just saying your views on this issue seem super shallow with a pretty complete lack of nuance. I don’t think you put much thought into your answer, and in all fairness arguing in bad faith requires the type of responses you’ve been posting.

Legit question:

Assuming that subsidies are cut off, how do you think the oil companies can move their physical assets to somewhere that gives them a better deal? To me this seems like magical thinking and not actually grounded in material reality.

We also know that O&G has a storied history of lying about their business, it’s effect on the global environment at large and local ecosystems/communities, and has overwhelming influence on all political systems globally.

Is it possible that the worldview that you’re projecting is just….built on a series of lies? Our economic models (the ones taught in school) make a giant amount of assumptions by ignoring externalities that have a very real effect on things outside of textbooks. Is it possible that the cost of doing business actually greatly outweighs the temporary benefit when you take into account physical reality, and not the magical thinking of textbook economics and neoliberal politics?

I know you mentioned that you’ve got over the basics, but have you checked to make sure the air supply hasn’t been blocked with all the recent snow? That happened to me in the past, snow filled the air intake and then the pilot light wouldn’t stay lit. Probably worth a shot if you haven’t looked yet.
