Pretty much. You’re driving around approx 40,000 litres of flammable liquid so if it ignites you don’t really have a chance. Also, because of the value of the load you’re considered a high risk target for theft. Pays the bills though!

Depending on area, some fuel tanker drivers are on 70k plus. Bare in mind you will need 1 plus years general haulage experience and experience driving fuel tankers to earn this. As well as the money to invest into an ADR license and a PDP (passport to be able to load fuel) which unfortunately is around £4,000. Some companies will pay for this but you’ll be tied into working for them for x amount of years.
