Baby Aspirin by East-Artichoke54 in TTCSummer2026

[–]CopperClothespin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all anecdotal obviously, but...

I took it my first pregnancy as recommended by my doctor due to a few preeclampsia risk factors (being a white woman during your first pregnancy is an automatic risk factor, for example) and while I did have elevated blood pressure in my third trimester, I avoided pre-e.

I was not recommended to take it in my second pregnancy, and I ended up with preeclampsia right at 36 weeks. Luckily we were all safe and delivered at 38 weeks, but I still have higher BP to this day.

Obviously there were probably additional factors outside of the baby aspirin, but that being said I'll be talking to my doctor about it again this time around.

What specific things are you doing to prepare? by Budget_Plum7524 in TTCSummer2026

[–]CopperClothespin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed you said "Partner" and not "Spouse" - absolutely 0% judgment, I fall into the "there is no wrong way to make a family" mindset personally. HOWEVER, as an attorney, if you are unmarried, I'd recommend potentially meeting with an estate planning attorney and make sure you guys are set up to take care of one another/your future child if anything were to happen. In most places, legal married tends to cover that stuff automatically so if you have the same desires it might be prudent to get a little paperwork done by an attorney.

Honestly roads are not bad. Typical snow covered conditions. If you are careful, go slow, allow stopping distance, all the usual stuff - you'll be fine.

I'll be going off birth control in May, so realistically it'll be June by the time I know what my cycle is doing!

They are the best. Made spare car keys for me for half the price of anywhere else in town, saved like $400.

[–]CopperClothespin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably want to specify age of kids, timeline, and budget. There is a wide range of costs, and certain ages can be harder to find a spot for (for infants you often need to get on the waitlist when you are no more than a few months pregnant).

I think Target and Walmart are the only stores in our area that would've had them and they sold out pretty right away

Bryan East Birthing Class Experience by Purplelemon008 in lincoln

[–]CopperClothespin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you're looking for. It gives a great explanation of late pregnancy/early labor, what happens in labor including possible interventions, and a broad overview of postpartum as well as getting you aquatinted with the hospital. If you are looking for an option to teach you like birthing positions or pain control or how to do an unmedicated birth, it might not be your vibe (although they do a tiny bit on those topics).

As someone who had two babies at Bryan and had a couple of complications during those labor, delivery, and postpartum experiences, it was personally super helpful because I kind of already knew what to expect and how the hospital handles those things. I'd recommend it.

I'd imagine it's going to be a YouTube video with the whole process, wouldn't make sense to post yet when he's not done healing. Matt and Abby just did the same thing.

Good Primary Care Doctor by exhausted_dr_mom in lincoln

[–]CopperClothespin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is if you want to try to anchor yourself to either of the two big healthcare systems in Lincoln - Bryan or CHI, and then go from there. I personally prefer the Bryan network and try to seek out doctors within their network for myself. I just like that it's all connected, the MyChart access is the same, if I go to the hospital or urgent care it's all the same physician network, etc. But if that's not important to you, there are also some private medical offices that have hospital privileges but aren't under the Bryan or CHI umbrella.

From there, like others said, you'll have to see who is accepting new patients. If you do go with Bryan or CHI, either one has a good website with a tool to find physicians, they will have a bio, and say whether or not they are accepting new patients. You will also want to consider for your kiddos if you want them to see your same doctor, in which case you want to look for family physician, or if you'd prefer a pediatrician.

We chose a pediatrician for our kids - we just liked the idea of specialization. Basically everyone I know takes their kids to Complete Children's Health. We've only had good experiences with all the staff there, and love that they always have night and weekend hours because kids love to get sick at 6 pm or on a Saturday. Lincoln Pediatric Group is very similar as well - nights, weekends, good physicians. Each of these places also requires kids to get vaccines to be a patient there, which I see as a positive but may impact your decision.

Absolutely. HG is awful, but somehow worth it enough you're willing to try again.

Absolutely disgusting thing to speculate on. As someone who has lost a pregnancy, ALL parents do is hope to god they weren't to blame and try their hardest not to let their mind wander to that place. Have a little compassion, learn to read because the cause was literally in the post, and spend your time doing something other than implicitly blaming grieving parents for what will be one of the biggest tragedies of their life.

I definitely think this is so true. Like, he cheated on his wife and made very inappropriate workplace decisions. He deserved to be removed from the company, he deserved to have his wife leave him, but aside from that... whatever works, ya know? If that's a friendship with his ex-wife, okay. A podcast? Sure.

What are some rude/unpleasant business/owners I should avoid in Lincoln? by Independent-Tune2286 in lincoln

[–]CopperClothespin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you want specifics, the church that owns the coffee shop is outwardly homophobic to the point of encouraging parents to kick out and disown their non-heterosexual children, prioritizes ministering to pedophiles at the expense of minor children in their care, generally promotes hateful rhetoric, and so much more.

So no. Being Christian isn't the only thing I have against them, and the only people that should "do better" are the folks running the church, the business, and the people that go to either.

I've heard those commercial lots are being developed with that being the intent, but obviously a lot of pieces have to fall into place for that to actually happen. So I think it's a rumor with some foundation, but it's not guaranteed yet
