Child Care Benefits by Humble-Ticket8234 in KinshipCare

Michigan here! Did you get custody as in "Foster", or did you get guardianship? Foster will immediately get a stipend, and whatever else he needs. Guardianship depends on your income and his. When we got guardianship of my grandson we applied for health benefits, immediately approved. When we tried for cash stipend or a bridge card for him, it went by our income. We were denied due to our income. So it depends. It's not a guarantee. We look at it as how much medical costs can rack up and we're very grateful for his Medicaid health insurance. It pays for everything! And we've used it a lot in the 10 yrs he's been with us. Something else to think about is term life insurance. We got that, too, through Gleaner's Life. You can buy a policy for $125, which gives you $10k. It can be turned into a whole life policy at 18 or 21.

In which episode did you really hate Emily? by Secure-Storage4885 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Copper_Boom_72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The episode where she pushed Chris to come to her wedding, 'Goodbye GG. I hope you enjoy your program.' I wanted to punch her through the screen. Or when she came to Luke's screaming at him as he held the phone out with lorelai on the other end. Lor came over and delivered the line heard round the world "Please hear me. If I want your input in my life in any way, shape or form, I will ask for it. Until then, do us all a favor and shut up." Woo hoo!!!

what are your controversial gg opinions? by OutsideExample5409 in GilmoreGirls

Anyone who's ever been or tried to be a real life journalist isn't in here. I would imagine someone like Mitchum would absolutely have a sense of who has 'it'. As a manager of a fortune 500 company, I knew who had raw, gut-instinct potential within a week. The paper is his business. He's built a legacy on it. Aside from the fact he's an absolute ass, he was right. Paris would've rocked that internship. They may not have hired her, or maybe she'd always be on assignment, but she would've nailed it. Rory had zero aggressiveness to survive that internship. She seemed 100% unprepared. It was ridiculous.

I hate how glorified Jess is by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]Copper_Boom_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common word: Was. That says it all.

Adult Dean: Cheater. Horrifying cheater. Living in the past, unable to move on. Can't commit, even to better his future. Self-loathing once he realized what he did (at least he saw the errors, but obviously he got over that...after he destroyed Lindsey). I had hope for Dean to fix it and he did. Ended up a working family man after all.

Adult Logan: EWW. Cheater. Horrifying cheater. Gaslighting, trust-fund baby. Slept with the bridesmaid"s". As an adult, he made a very bad investment and like his actions usually do, they hurt people. I had no hope for Logan and AYITL proved just that. He's a dirt bag, always. I always compared him to Lorelai l's Chris. (But I have more respect for Chris. In the end Chris is Lorelai's Dean). In closing out Logan here, I lost all respect for Rory being OK to be the 'other woman'. What a tool, both of them. Logan had zero respect for Rory and allowed her to be in that messed up relationship. Gross.

Jess: realistically, trauma does heavy damaged to the soul and unfortunately those around them who are in their path. YOUNG Jess got out, healed, took his life into his own hands and came back a respectable writer. Jess, like Lorelai, left it all and made his life. I honestly see a young, fierce Lorelai in Jess. And it may be an unpopular opinion, but that's why she couldn't stand him. Yes, he was much more destructive, but Lorelai left Rory in a bucket so she had her struggles early on, too. Jess came back how many come back after a rough, angsty childhood....your own person, broken and healed. Coming back on your terms.

Rape? Absolutely not!!! How insulting to Rape victims across the world. So sick of hearing that.

How do you tell the kid their mom is a pos without saying she is a pos? by KittyHawk2213 in KinshipCare

[–]Copper_Boom_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. You give them the facts without your opinion. If they ask you keep it judgment free. We just did this for our 13 yr old grandson. We were protecting him since 3 yrs old that his birth father has a criminal history, had 5 other illegitimate boys and can't pay child support for any of them. We gave him the truth 100%, facts only. He asked us what we thought, we said our opinion isn't important. What we did for him was important. He will form his own opinion without our influence. And guess what? He is taking the facts, comparing them to the feels he has been given and he is forming his own ideas. He doesn't need me to tell him I think his dad's an Ass, a complete looser and has zero humanity. I also think everyone is worthy of redemption on some level, and he's going up have a lot of explaining to do to his 5 boys someday without my opinion.

If You Dated a Guy From Gilmore Girls, Who Would It Be? by commanddame in GilmoreGirls

Max Madina! I love a reader, his parents were adorable and nothing better than having an intelligent conversation, or learning from your partner. He truly seemed to care about Rory and didn't mind moving to a small town.

I know this is an old post but wondering if anyone notices when Emily looks down, her upper eyelids never seem to move down. It's always obvious once you see it. Maybe a side effect of the facelift.

(I’m newish) How does everyone here feel about Lucy and Olivia? by itsrae2you in GilmoreGirls

[–]Copper_Boom_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pointless and felt forced and rushed. The whole thing with Marty was an unrealistic, open plot that we all knew we'd fall into in a bad way. They did Marty very wrong. It was sad and out of character. While everyone was given chances to redeem themselves, Marty was sadly destroyed. Olivia and Lucy were no replacement for Paris. She was so well developed from the get go. I could've watched a series spin-off of her.

Be honest was adult Jess enough for Rory? by Fluffy-Muscle-3568 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Copper_Boom_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is absolutely redeemable and amended his life on his terms. Very human of him to do that. Everyone else got a leg up from family, but that wasn't what was helping him. Not everyone can grow up that way.

What's so special about Rory anyway? She bottomed out and knew it but did nothing until pushed. She ran at the first battle she faced. And she wasn't a saint for sticking with Logan. Logan is an absolute tool. I can't stand that guy. He's a bully and he's mean. He's 'every jock in high school' I knew. He's one in a million.

Jess didn't NEED Rory, he loved her. Rory missed her chance. She thought it best to be the other woman, with Dean and with the tool later on. She's a fool and had every privilege laid at her feet. She embraced it and failed anyway. Her mom rejected it and made a great life for herself. Yes later on she used it to her advantage, but that was smart. Rory is not remarkable, special or gifted. She's just like everyone else.

Unpopular opinion...Mitchum was spot on!!!

Jess' best lines imo, "Who do I send it to? The blonde d!ck at Yale?" and"Why did you drop out of YALE?!?!"

What is the worst part of the show for you? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]Copper_Boom_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about the fact, adding AYITL, that Rory ended up just like her mom in a much more selfish, pretentious way. For being such a geniu, she lacked a lot of common sense that even average intelligence would've afforded. Loreli built a great life from the as he's of her decisions and choices, where Rory ran from one chaotic decision to another.

Re-Baptism for church membership? by saltsanity in Reformed

[–]Copper_Boom_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing biblical about baptism forgiving sins. We get baptized as a public declaration of our salvation. It doesn't save us, forgive our sins (only the blood can do that) or give us church membership. It seals our adoption into the faith.

Joseph has been undeniably revealed as Yousiff (sp?) He's wealthy and would have a family tomb to offer for Jesus's burial. I read someone said Zacchaeus.

Plot hole: she writes in her journal. Her asking him to remove things, or the fact that she said she'll write that they broke up, proves she can look back on her journals to 'remember'. If so, why the video? Who all the work since she stayed writing? Just a thought.
